I will be one of them. Netflix has priced themselves out of a lot of long time subscribers.

I told my kids we were dropping Netflix for a few months when Disney+ came out and they complained loudly... but oh well, there's enough kids content on Disney+ (and Amazon Prime) that they will barely miss it, and it'll be like a whole new thing after a few months off.

I have one HS and two college kids, so I am planning to have Netflix 5-6 Mos when they are home from College to Binge, DEC/JAN, MAY-AUG. I am planning to get the Disney+ service to counteract, and I have Amazon prime. We'll see if I can get this through without much anarchy..

I don’t think Netflix realizes that it has trained its user so well to binge that there is no incentive for them not to just subscribe a month here and there to watch through whatever original content Netflix provides. They certainly don’t have much beyond that worth paying $12.99 monthly to see anymore, at least for my household.

Well crap, how long has this been possible? Bought $60 worth for $27 and they added to my account just fine.

As long as gift cards have been sold.

Some assume it is people who have stolen credit card numbers and buy gift cards with them to flip. That goes for any discount gift cards you see being sold. I don’t know that for certain so what are you gonna do? eBay covers you if they’re bad.

Well booger. I’ve bought other gift cards on ebay, but either didn’t see or think thru these netflix ones. Will try not to think about the years of overpaying for Netflix.....

Any particular user you recommend. My buddy bought one, and the code didn't work for him. The seller hasn't returned his emails yet.

I’ve bought four from four different sellers. All sent me the code within an hour or two, and all worked. Two of the sellers were sangbin-64 and inxthexredx.

Thanks. I'll hunt them down.

CW-Netflix SVOD deal will not be renewed.

New shows on The CW will be shopped to other services.

It says Batwoman will likely head to the new WB service

I watched a bunch of CW shows when they were on Hulu. But when they signed that exclusive deal with Netflix, I started missing episodes and eventually just gave up on them.

It would be nice if they ended up on a service (like Hulu) that streamed current CW episodes instead of waiting for the season to finish.

The CW app still posts the episodes the day after they air. Only drawback is roughly 10 minutes worth of commercials that are added in. When it was on Hulu, you could watch them all commercial free.

Just to clarify any confusion. Only new shows produced after 2018-19 will not automatically go to Netflix. They will be shopped. So Hulu or the new WB service could get them. Netflix can still pick and choose if they want them or not.

This article says shows like The Flash, Riverdale, Dynasty and such will stay on Netflix through their lifeline.

If only they had a streaming service dedicated to DC properties that they could put stuff on. Nah, why do that?

Netflix to become more pickier greenlighting originals. I don't blame them considering they're operation is in the red.

Most of you probably don't watch even half of what comes out as Netflix originals.

You’re correct. I don’t even know how many exist. Yet when I’m browsing I’ll run into one that’s labeled as a “Netflix original”, which is funny because those are in the 2nd-3rd seasons.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

The label "Netflix Original" seems to cover a lot of ground. In addition to shows that are truly original to Netflix, it is also used for shows that Netflix 'rescued' from traditional networks (such as Designated Survivor and Lucifer). It is also used for shows that originally air on a network in their home country and Netflix has the streaming rights for it in other countries (like the Australian series Glitch and UK series The End of the F***ing World).

That all adds up to a lot of Netflix Original branded shows. I watch a lot of them, but there are many I haven't watched yet and may never get to. I understand the reasons they need to 'tighten the belt' when it comes to new shows. I hope they still give a chance to some of the off-beat kind of stuff that might not get picked up by traditional networks.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

Netflix originals are basically the exclusives they paid for in one form or another. Like Titans in the EU.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

The issue is while channels like Showtime and HBO have a target audience and limited number of originals at any time, Netflix decided to try to be all of cable covering a lot of every genre at the same time.

It's a losing battle to do that much.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

Netflix loses over $17 billion in value over a single day due to very bad day at the stock market. I don't care who or what Company you are, that's a massive amount of money to lose in one day. Maybe they should have thought that the constant price hikes will turn away people when we have so many other streaming options available now.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

I'd imagine the loss of Friends and Office would have a larger effect on their current stock price than the sub price. It's still very reasonable for the content they offer, which (IMO) is the best available selection from any streaming service.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

I gave them plenty of feedback as to why I cancelled them and what they could do to keep me as a subscriber (basically give me a setting to stop breaking into end credits- and no, I don't want to "simply click on them" to bring them back- the effect is like a kid grabbing your remote and going to town) but they chose to do nothing. Others have cancelled because the automatic previews that play while browsing annoys them, but they simply said that was "the intended experience" and did nothing about it. That kind of arrogance will always come back to bite you.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion

If you're willing to give up all their content because you don't like that previews auto-play, I'd have to guess Netflix doesn't care about losing you as a customer.

Netflix is going to be fine. They have millions of subscribers worldwide. No one likes to pay more money for anything, but the price hike wasn't exactly shocking coming out of nowhere. This company has spent billions on creating shows like Stranger Things and such, but is generating very little revenue only from subscribers. They needed the price hike to help cover the increasing costs.
