I dont know if you ever used Netflix streaming, but there is hardly any wait time. I have watched tons of HD movies/tv shows from Netflix and have not experienced any kind of "waiting" at all.

You make it sound as if DVRs invented ad skipping. VHS players had forward scan buttons. Don't know why advertisers/networks hate DVRs so much when people have always been ff'ing through commercials with VHS.

Looks like the Hulu app is now working for free stuff. I watched an episode of Parenthood last night. Commercials were not that bad (5 minutes total)?

Because it's way easier with DVRs. Let's stop pretending VCRs were even a fraction as convenient as DVRs are today.

I'm pretty sure that's just the free sample.

Didn't say anything about the convenience, just said it wasn't a new concept.

VCRs that had the Commercial Advance feature were way ahead of the DVRs of today. No viewer interaction required to fast forward through commercials.

ReplayTV actually had that feature, but it was never adopted by Tivo and the rest, I assume because they didn't want to tick off networks even more. I assumed that was why they didn't enable 30 sec. skip by default as well.

So anyone actually sign up for this service yet, and try to stream to two iphones/ipads at once?

That's exactly it. ReplayTV was sued in part because of commerical advance and eventually declared bankruptcy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReplayTV#Legal_Battle

TiVo obviously never included it because they didn't want to be sued as well.

Re: Hulu to start charging for content as early as 2010

The reason why Hulu commercials aren't that bad is because the can barely sell any ads on it. You wait and see as this online model becomes more popular, it'll have more ads... and you won't be able to skip them since the plays will be proprietary. All these Plus subscribers are going to be paying for TV with the same amount of ads and the inability to skip. No way i'm supporting that model. If i pay out of pocket, I want NO ADS!

Those Hulu Motherfuckers. I had a bunch of queued shows that were going to expire in September. I had them waiting so I could get to them in the next few days. Now everything is either expired or is going to expire in a couple days. They even put a $3.52 charge next to my queued ep 5 of The Good Guys.

Bastards Maybe I'll wait to sign up for the payed Hulu.

Umm, that's the title of the episode.

Wait, you're joking.

Or are you?

Anyway...

Hence the It was thrown in as a joke to add to my "net rage" when I saw most of my eps had suddenly expired.

Yeah I also noticed that a bunch of my stuff that was going to expire in September is now expired or expiring very soon. Looks like it's mostly affecting ABC shows...Go figure!

$3.52 is not a charge. That's the actual episode title for the Good Guys episode 5.

I am upset that now I have to track down the last 5 or so episodes of the shows I'm losing through alternative sources until Hulu Plus gets their shit together. I prefer to watch them legally, but whatever I guess we'll see.

Re: Hulu to start charging for content as early as 2010

So I got my invite today on e-mail, so I decided to try it.

They don't have a massive amount of content yet. It's mostly NBC, ABC and FOX shows that have full seasons and not every show has back seasons. Mainly using it right now to get caught up on Bones, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters and Cougar Town (so I won't have to waste money buying or renting these DVD's.) Once I get caught up with them, then I will decide if this is worth keeping depending on what additional content they add in the future.

The cool thing is that I already have a lifetime license to Playon that I use for my Xbox 360 and all the Hulu Plus content streams perfectly through it.

Does Hulu Plus include every single episode of SNL as the information I just saw seems to indicate? If so, that would be reason enough for me to subscribe. There is some gold there that I don't know of any other way to access. Love the Hartman seasons particularly.

Right now they have seasons 1-5, 31-35.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt right now since this is only a "Preview" of Hulu Plus and they don't have clearances on alot of shows/seasons yet.

For example Fringe and Human Target, which air on FOX, only have the last 5 episodes posted probably because they aren't produced in house at FOX but at Warner Brothers.

you know it's only $40 until September, right? I mean, $40's a lot, but I feel it might be worth the upgrade... still not sure tho.

Re: Hulu to start charging for content as early as 2010

Since it has already been brought up, what comes with Playon Premium? I have a license as well and honestly haven't been paying much attention to the Playon emails.
