I suggested to the admins that you be banned because you were not a positive element of this community and your behaviour was inapporpriate and troll-like. I am going to suggest you be banned again for multiple accounts (and this time banned by IP since the mods have that information on every post made...).

Believe me, you are not the first troll the DVDtalk mods have had to ban and deal with and you won't be the last, but I am sure that Geoff will not allow people to badmouth this site in our faces... particularly someone who has never offered anything productive to this community.

Well, here's the thing buddy. The member agreement you sign to set up an account on the forum has very specific items which you agree to when setting up an account. One of which is not to set up further accounts and the other is to not defraud companies. Also liability clauses for the abuse your currently doing on the forum.

Your story about trying an old code is pretty thin, most people don't go through the trouble of registering and hosting their domain overseas when they're stateside unless they're up to something.

Your actions to defraud DDD have cost a very good retailer a lot of time effort and money, and consequently we'll continue to ban your accounts on this forum.

Actually, I'm currently at my main residence in Canada now. And I used the free shipping option, shipped to my mail box in the US. Confused yet?

Anyway, I got confirmation today that my order shipped. Thanks again to DDD for honouring this SNAFU. On the plus side, hopefully they got some new regular customers due to this situation. They will, of course, definitely continue to get my business.

dont' know why people think deep discount is a good retailer. most of my past orders with them have been damaged goods or late. i used 2nd day air on an order of three items. the first item shipped 2nd day air and the next two items shipped the next day standard mail. customer service is god awful and wouldn't credit me back. i'd rather pay more for great customer service and prompt shipping than pay less for bad service. if they get screwed they get screwed.

The reason people like them is because the vast majority of us have had good customer service and little to no problems in addition to the great prices.

I don't think I did get in on this deal. Even though I got the emails that I made an order, my order status still says no open orders.

Actually, it states relatively clearly in their shipping policies that any orders with multiple ship dates will ship out just like that. The first part of the order goes out with the shipping method specified, and the rest of the order goes out via standard mail.

LIED TO BY DDD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I placed an order for about $90 worth of DVDs ($120 without coupon) 9:30 AM on Thursday. By Friday morning I read on this message board that they were honoring the 20% coupon, but I had not received any email confirmation, and so I called them. I spoke to a nice CSR who read my order back to me and told me my order was in the system, but they could not honor the coupon, but they'd be glad to accept it for the full price without coupon. I told her I would need to think about it and I'd get back to her.

Later that day, I thought I'd try my luck with the email customer service, so wrote a very nice email explaining my situation. I explained how I placed the order using the coupon, had not received confirmation, etc... and requested they send me an email confirmation of the order.

At 8:25 PM I received this reply:

"We apologize but don't believe your order came through as we have no record of it. We welcome you to replace it at your convenience."

It's amazing my order "isn't on record" since the CSR this morning READ IT BACK TO ME!!!

Any suggestions how to proceed? Shall I kindly point this discrepancy out to them, or come out with guns blazing? I don't like it when companies I have a long history of doing business with lie to me to save a few bucks...

Welcome to the club. I would completely understand if DDD didn't honor any of the orders using the 20% off coupon, but I don't understand them honoring some of those orders while playing games with the rest of us and pretending that they never received our orders when we all know damn well that they did.

I'm not sure that you really need to accuse them of lying. They're already honoring thousands and thousands of dollars worth of orders, so I kind of doubt that they are trying to save a few bucks by maliciously deleting your order. It seems more likely that it got lost somehow (their system really took a pounding). While that sucks, I can understand them not wanting to just take everyone's word that they placed an order during the "sale".

What does this mean... I have received all 3 emails and they indicate the discounted price. Then I received an email saying they are shipping, again showing the discounted price. But when I view my order status on ddd it shows "order total" with the discounted price and below shows "order charged" without the discounted price (meaning it's greater than order total)!

I am afraid to call them because then they most likely will cancel it like everyone else. Maybe I should wait and see what the invoice says before callling?

How come no one has told ddd on the phone about the promise ddd posted here? What would their response be to that?

I got the initial email showing they accepted the order (with the discount applied) and then another email showing they shipped some of the order (with the discount applied.)

I checked the order status online and it doesn't show the discount applied, but when I checked my credit card online it shows the correct amount.

Everyone else's orders are getting canceled? Where'd you get that idea from? From what I see, only a few people have gotten theirs canceled.

Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. If this were a legitimate sale, I'd say you have a reason to be upset. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you don't. THIS time you didn't.

If a car dealership put an ad in the paper, but the newspaper screwed up and mispriced the car at $2000 instead of $20,000, would you feel that you are entitled to the car at two thousand bucks? Would you sue the car dealership or the newspaper because you felt that you were lied to? People make mistakes. I hope when you make mistakes, people are more forgiving of you than what you appear to be. (I'm sure these CSRs are all Ph.Ds making millions of dollars answering the phone all day and should be such experts that they could never give a wrong answer or make a mistake.)

The more I read this thread, the more whinning and complaining I'm reading from "victums" who didn't get a second e-mail, couldn't get the coupon to go through, feel that they've been cheated somehow, were talked to by CSR in a rude manner, etc. It's just a frickin' DVD. Get on with your life.

My purchase went through. Supposedly I received my discount. Until I have the DVDs in hands I won't know what's what. Maybe they'll cancel my order. And if they did, then that's that. They've got every right to do that. Just because somebody posted a coupon in error, a company doesn't have a legal obligation to honor that coupon--especially if it is not finacially profitable for them.

I've been involved in using coupons from days past (REEL.com, for example) and many companies went belly up from users who abused coupons. And I've used coupons that were erroneously posted and the companies refused to honor them. (I guess it's always a good idea to kill the chicken that lays the golden eggs though, isn't it?)

DDD has graciously elected to honor the mistake. If you didn't get a discount, if you don't like their service, if you feel that this is some big conspiracy against you, then it's your prerogative not to shop there. I began shopping with them since they opened and although not every purchase I made with them was 100% perfect, they have been overwhelmingly successful and always corrected their mistakes. Their low prices and free shipping always make me come back, but I also shop at other DVD retailers that suit my particular needs.

(And now I'll get off my soapbox and let the posters who want to refute me , do so.)

this is probably a stupid question, but are you sure that your CC info is correct cuz I remember I had an order canceled once cuz I forgot to update my expired CC info with my new CC.

Well I am afraid I am going to be one of those "Lost Orders". Still no emails or anything showing my order status. I printed out the screen that says "Your order has been received".

I sent off an email explaining the situation and am hoping they honor the order as they said they would.

One thing I cant understand is how come this time everybody thinks DDD honoring the 20% discount they are losing money?, last year they offered a 20% discount and nobody thought they were losing money.

I agree with the previous poster, if you are going to honor the discount it needs to be for everybody and not just selective.

I got that on my order status page also. I checked my CC statement and DDD charged me the discounted price so no worries for me.
