Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

Meh. Last thing I need is another low traffic forum I don't have time to read. Are there people that think this is a real feature?

I've seen so many of these type of games be part of a...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

What was the benefit of buying backing Mighty No. 9 vs. just waiting for it to come out? I was interested, but I didn't see a benefit to backing now.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I think the designers hired the lawyer to compel him to inform to backers (and presumably protect the interests of the designers by getting the rights back), not to issue refunds. The money's gone. ...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

Agreed, but that circumstance isn't the activity I am referring to.

Understood, I just have real problems disassociating fundraising from the actual goal of the project. And I would think it...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

But fundraising goals are artificial. They're whatever they choose them to be. If I set a goal of $10, and raise $150, but new what I was proposing would cost $500, am I a success by any measure?

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I understood. If I were in the project creators' shoes, however, and I was invited to one of these panels, I would politely decline until after I had delivered. Beyond the hubris side of things,...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

Personally, I'd prefer them to wait until they've actually delivered a quality game before they open the champagne and call it a success.

And I still have no idea what the hell Homestuck is.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

The last update on this was just weird. They laid off their staff? Why would I give money to a company that's circling the drain?

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I work in IT, and I know how much good designers and coders cost. If they are $35K away from completing the game with 3D animation, third person shooting, and the rest of the bells and whistles they...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

It did look interesting, but I'm at the point where I question any video game kickstarter requesting less than $100K.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

Seriously? Fable, Black & White, Project Milo. He's notorious for promising a zillion cool features and delivering 2 or 3 moderately interesting ones.

I plan on pledging $1000, but only actually sending $5.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

If you read the description, though, it appears the hand drawn environments are for selected areas that you will have a first-person view in. The majority of the game is to be that top-down view. ...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

Wow. I was looking forward to the Hero-U kickstarter, as I enjoyed the original QfG games, but I'm rather disappointed. It looks terrible!

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I think Shaker might have stalled when they gave it the name "Shaker." WTH is that? They took a descriptive name in line with existing nostalgia kickstarters, and gave it the name of an 18th century...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I've read the kickstarter page, and the intro Homestuck link he provides, and I still have no idea what the hell Homestuck is about, or what this kickstarter is going to deliver. It hurts my head to...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I've been playing it as well. It's a lot of fun and very addictive. General release is set for September 14th.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I agree that it is definitely dependent upon the developer's track record. Jane Jensen and the Tex Murphy guys could put up a video that said nothing but, "Give me money!" and I probably would.

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

The Two Guys passed $300K, so there should be another prototype on the way.

I just saw another point-and-click adventure game called Lilly Looking Through. They're already more than 50% funded...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

The Two Guys kickstarter made some extensive revisions to their reward tiers last night, including GOG credits for the original Space Quest (1-3 or 4-6)starting at $50. Their original tiers were...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

Played the SpaceVenture prototype 2, and it seems to be pretty good for what it is supposed to show. The same humor is definitely there, so it looks like it will be good from a design standpoint. I...

Re: Ultimate Kickstarter Video Games Thread

I went in on Grim Dawn, Xenonauts, and big time on Tex Murphy, in addition to my other backing on the SpaceVenture, Jane Jensen's, and Republique. It would appear I have a Kickstarter addiction.
