Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

Those are great. Actually, I love a lot of the painted covers on 70s Marvel B&W mags, gorgeous stuff!

Re: What movie quotes are in your everyday vocabulary?

I prefer to go with "Yippee Ki-Yay Mr. Falcon!"

And I've occasionally dismissed someone with a "No time for love, Dr. Jones" while walking away. :)

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

I honestly love all the 1970s gothic horror stuff, like this one (that later became Forbidden Tales of Dark Mansion). DC actually put out a crapload of horror titles in the 70s, but for some reason...

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

I loved the DC horror comics when I was a kid, Ghosts was my favorite. Of course the EC horror comics can't be beat, but I grew up with the code approved DC ones.

Here's a short lived title (only...

Re: Who's your same-sex crush in Hollywood?

Brad Pitt has always been my guy, but Chris Hemsworth is pretty dreamy as well.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Nice haul! I didn't know about some of these, I would have liked to get that Sisters of Mercy single and the Witchfinder General album.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

I hear you on all of this, I'd probably go to more shows but for the damn anxiety. :(

I did just pick up tickets to an Alice Cooper show in July in Niagara Falls, Ontario (man, I haven't seen him...

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

Oh yeah, underground comix were always quite pricey in comparison to the mainstream comics, likely due to low print runs and lack of advertising.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

Coolest father ever!

Yikes, that's horrible!

And what's with the religious comics having weird prices, 39 cents?

Re: The Daily Show with guests hosts (Comedy Central)

Great interview. And yeah, I noticed that the running time of this episode was a bit longer than usual.

Re: Letterkenny (and Shoresy) (Crave / Hulu) -- Series Thread -- Canadian comedy

Ah, that makes sense. I don't mind, it means that I can't be tempted to blow through them all in one night.

Re: MTV Behind the Music (Paramount +) -- Revived Music documentary series -- Premieres 7/29/21

Not really interested in any of those, but who is the topic of the remaining fourth episode?

Re: Letterkenny (and Shoresy) (Crave / Hulu) -- Series Thread -- Canadian comedy

Great news. I was just rewatching the first season last weekend with a friend, and damn that shit is still funny. "Titfucker!"

Not sure why there is almost a month delay between the...

Re: The VINYL Thread!

The HumminGuru is the one I've been considering myself, and the price isn't absolutely horrible (on the other hand I think the Spin-Clean is overpriced for what it is).

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

Anyone remember this UG comic? (name was changed to simply "Cherry" after the second issue due to legal threats from Kellogg's). I managed to score the first few issues back in the 80s even though I...

Re: The VINYL Thread!

So pressed by GZ then? Their stuff tends to be hit or miss, I've had great pressings and crappy pressings from that company.

Re: The Official METAL! Thread- Metalcore, Thrash, Progressive, Death, and MORE

Yeah, back in the mid-90s, metal like grindcore, nu-metal/mallcore, and the offerings of old favorites of mine like Metallica and Maiden weren't doing anything for me, but then I discovered symphonic...

Re: The Official METAL! Thread- Metalcore, Thrash, Progressive, Death, and MORE

Yep, hardcore put the "core" in grindcore for sure. :) And stuff like Carcass lead to sub-subgenres like goregrind, deathgrind, etc.

Re: The Official METAL! Thread- Metalcore, Thrash, Progressive, Death, and MORE

Yeah, I always considered Napalm Death to be the instigators of grindcore (but Repulsion was very early grindcore as well). And damn, I remember stumbling upon Carcass's debut Reek of Putrification...

Re: Favorite comfort movie?

I agree with Decker on Almost Famous, that's just a nice, warm blanket of a movie for me.
