#7 Absolutely. Monoprice's HDMI cables are just as good. Don't spend hundreds of dollars on Monster cables - not worth their price at all.

If you plan to get a home theater speaker/receiver set up, then you'll need to get an optical cable for the audio (unless you get a high end receiver that can accept HDMI video cables too)....

It would help if you could tell us what model Sony receiver (model #) and the TV model #. Also, what is your high definition source? Cable box? Satellite? It's safe to assume they have HDMI out.
