Only thing I was after were The Kinks 7" EPs. Store had plenty of Johnny Cash - I was tempted but decided to pass.

I think you'd do better finding the music on vinyl release. The Friday music releases don't sound so good. Rumor is they are from CDs

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I checked Everyday Music's site last night and it said that my local location was opening at 9AM today. I swung by for 9 and they were already open, with a sign on the door saying they were opening at 8AM.

So of course they didn't have what I really wanted, but I picked up the blue/white vinyl repress of The Clash's self titled album. There happens to be another record store kitty-cornered from them which doesn't open until 9:30AM, so I walked across and stood in the line of about 4 people there and managed to get the record I wanted (The 20th Anniversary pink vinyl pressing of Garbage's self-titled).

I was mildly interested in the Garbage LP, but not $40 interested.

Me, too, as well as the overpriced Spoon 10". $12 for two songs? It's usually why I avoid buying 10" or 7" singles unless there are at least four or more tracks on them - they are usually way overpriced. At least Queen had the decency to price the "Bohemian Rhapsody" 12" single at a reasonably fair price of only $7.

I only ended up buying Tresspassers William's Differnt Stars, which finally saw it's vinyl debut - and for a double album set was only $22.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

For RSDBF, I picked up the ever-elusive album The Pod by Ween (took three stores to get one and I got the last one) and the Deerhoof live LP. I passed on a bunch of stuff this year - the pricing is just offensive on a lot of stuff. $30 for the MGMT EP?

Bull Moose has their leftovers for sale online now. http://www.bullmoose.com/c/13165/bla...ord-store-day/

While I was there, I picked up the brand new MoFi release of Miles Davis' Jack Johnson and two Steve Hackett albums for $3 each.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Both the Krampus and Black Christmas* soundtracks are up on Waxwork.

Their site is having some shenanigans though, as I added both of them to my cart (I even got a "Item successfully added to your cart" message) but when I went to check out it said they were sold out. Even Black Christmas, which is a pre-order.
I had to refresh the cart page a couple times and then it fixed itself and let me order them. Looking on twitter, almost everyone is having this issue.

I had no problems with my order. I ordered the candy cane version of Krampus.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Ok guys, I'm going vinyl!! At least somewhat, haha.

My wife got me a great Bday gift, a record player! But I was wondering if you could help me out a bit. Whats the advantage of vinyl; or why all the love? I like the nostalgia, classic feel and in some cases the sound of the cracking and popping. But I don't intend on getting new releases on vinyl, I don't see the advantage. Is there one? Thanks to anyone who participates!

Depends how it's mixed and pressed, really. All things being equal, vinyl supposedly has better bass reproduction than CD.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Scored a super-nice copy of Tull's "Songs From The Wood" at Caroline's Records in Cocoa Beach, FL last weekend.

The cover was a bit tattered but it plays wonderfully. Wish I could say the same for the copy of Genesis's "Seconds Out" I picked up at the same time.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

So while I was out shopping at my local store I saw 2 things that I've learned were RSD exclusive. I'm thinking of going back and getting them.

The Doors - Strange Days Mono for $25
Transformers - 30th Anniversary OST in red vinyl and purple vinyl for $40

Thoughts?

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Yea I've been thinking of that doors record all night. I'm probably gonna go get it!!!

As far as transformers goes, I was thinking it was too expensive also but I seem to see a lot of expensive or overpriced records. My thinking is I love transformers and have never owned the official soundtrack. Plus I'm a slave to exclusives lol

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I can recommend the Doors Strange Days mono. I was checking it out a bit more just last weekend and, on my system,* it really sounds amazing. It is a good demo disc for what mono should sound like, in my opinion.

* Rega RP-1 with Ortofon 2M Blue, Jolida JD-9 Phono Pre-amp, Harmon Kardon 3490 Amp, Wharfedale Diamond 10.5 Towers

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Hell yea. I got the album and it sounds awesome. I'm so glad I got it. However I admit my set up is not as bad ass as some of ya'll. It's a phonograph and the sound come out of the player.

I also ordered transformers. Found it cheap. And I'm probably going to order Hawkwind.

My record store also has the anniversary OST for Ghostbusters. It's some stay puff packaging but for $40

Re: The VINYL Thread!

i love the soundtracks. I just thought the ghostbusters thing was way overpriced. If you love Transformers though, why not? There is another version out there for $33 on Amazon though.

In Canada I've seen that in stores for as much as $79.99, $59.99 so I grabbed it when I saw it for $45. The regular version sells around here for similar money so I'm happy with the purchase - the jacket is awesome and the etchings are cool as hell.
