What about using isopropyl alcohol to clean crud off of records?
That's my usual go-to cleaning agent for most electronics, but I've heard from a few people that it can damage they vinyl. Never tried it, but I've always meant to experiment on an old junk record sometime.

^ Pretty nifty, too bad I'm not much of a soundtrack guy (like ones that have the movie score. If it's songs from the soundtrack, like say, the 1980 film Times Square, I'm in). Still the only Rob Zombie movie I ever liked though.
My latest from Discogs is an 80s pressing of the Ramones' first record. Pretty jazzed about it, except the price was a little low so I'm wondering if it's a current pressing. Oh well, even if it is, it's still the first record by the Ramones (not their best though, that's why it was not my top priority once I began collecting vinyl again)

Yeah, it's the score, which John 5 composed. Waxworks also released 20 units of the deluxe wooden boxed set for $300, but those are beyond sold out.

Gonna have to order that. The bonus album kind of seals the deal.

Waxwork has become on of my favorite labels next to Death Waltz, but I passed on this release. I would like to hear the bonus disc but I’m not much of a classic rock fan.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
So I got that Ramones record in the mail yesterday. It's not the exact pressing as stated in the Discogs ad (which was 1989), but it's not a current one either so I'm happy. Discogs lists this as "unknown year", I'm guessing 80s. It does sound glorious though. I'm still on the lookout for a 70s pressing of the record, but this will get many spins in the meantime. Hey ho let's go indeed.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
Man, due to the pandemic and a bunch of other reasons, smaller labels are having a hell of a time getting their vinyl pressed these days. One really small label that I buy metal albums from just announced a second pressing of a new album from one of their bands, and it isn't scheduled to ship until next March! Vinyl production must really be backed up, and I've heard that the major labels usually get priority (the record I'm ordering only has a press run of 100 so it's not exactly much of a priority for the factories).

Amazon has Iron Maiden's new LP, Senjutsu, up for pre-order...$16.99 for the 3LP, on Amazon Exclusive Silver vinyl:
This looks to be $45-$50 everywhere else, on black vinyl, so probably a pricing error.

What's up vinyl friends!
Never check in here anymore. Not much time. Laid up in bed this week, maybe next. Not COVID...
Not buying many soundtracks though did get Tenet for $16 off Amazon last week. Also got the Mandalorian MONDO set at Christmas.Mostly still keeping on top of these Blue Note reissues, though streaming a lot of Tidal since the kids require so much attention right now.

My next project, probably next week, is semi vinyl related; I'm going to recap the Harman Kardon receiver I bought two years ago. A risky proposal, since it works just fine. But it is 45 years old, and I'd love to keep it running its best.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
I planned on it taking two nights, at the soldering station at my job. Took five. One board per day. After each board, I ran a full test, because if I messed anything up I'd know exactly which board to check. Power supply and phono pre-amp took the most time, because there were many wires in the way and I had to de-solder them first. Then afterwards, I cut off the soldered ends, stripped back more wire, and created a new connection. With the phono board, I used new wires entirely.
The big thing I noticed was that one of the caps was installed backwards at the factory in 1976! Not critical, obviously, as it still worked, but interesting nonetheless. Took a lot of time and searches of photos of other boards, along with checking out the schematics to ensure that it was indeed backwards, and it was. So I fixed that.
I also installed new low-noise transistors in the phono and amplifier stage.
Everything worked when I buttoned it back up, but when I brought it home the right channel was dead. Spent several hours yesterday troubleshooting it, and redoing the connections on the last board I re-capped (the amplifier board), and it came back although I didn't see a definite exact problem. It did work fine when I brought it home, so I hope I got it but there's a little bit of unease now.
And it sounds the same anyway.
So yeah, not sure I'd recommend doing this unless you have actual problems with your receiver, or can clearly see bad caps when you inspect it. At least I did fix the one backwards capacitor, so I guess there's that.
