re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I'm a huge Ryan Adams fan (or I was until recent years). I think his cover of Swift's "Out of the Woods" on 1989 is outstanding. Best song on his cover version.

Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" redone Disturbed-style

This guy is brilliant. I don't like Disturbed or Taylor but he made it funny as hell.

I know everybody here could not sleep thinking when the next T Swizzle album would be coming out.

Taylor Swift has confirmed her new album, Reputation, is coming Nov. 10. But fans won't have to wait that long to hear new music from the pop queen – the first single drops Thursday (Aug. 24).

Taylor always wants to have it both ways. She complains about all the press coverage but sues a DJ for grabbing her ass and asks for $1 in damages.
Not saying she was wrong to sue, but for fuck's sake, you have to KNOW that trial would be covered closely in the press. She could keep a lower profile if she wanted to.

You don't know what you're talking about.

The DJ sued her first. She then countersued for one dollar.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

The new song is wretched in my opinion. It's not even much of a song with Taylor speaking the words of the title over and over again. This opinion coming from someone who loved 1989 (and Red) from beginning to end. Shake It Off was my least favorite song but at least it was catchy and fun to dance around to.

So let the DJ sue you and also allow him to grab your ass and do nothing about it, got ya. For this and ONLY this instance, she had every right to attack.

This song is wretched, agreed, but it is catchy. Everyone loving that old Taylor cannot come to the phone line. But she is pop now. And this is a catchy pop song that will be played nonstop all over the stations. BUt it is like Katy Perry's Swish Swish, just something catchy and bop to.

Sure she did. She was 100% in the right. But she can't act like she's Princess
Diana, unfairly stalked by the press, when she appears in open court and talks about getting her ass grabbed. At that point it's a legitimate news story. That is all I was trying to say.

You could just, like, not listen to it?
Or, like, not read about her?

Nah. That's too hard.

But again, you kind of misrepresented a key point of this. The DJ was suing her for millions of dollars, claiming she got him fired. She appeared in court as part of that lawsuit, as the defendant. Yes, she counter-sued for $1 (to make a point, whatever point that may be) but that really has nothing to do with the fact that she was being sued for much much more, and appeared in court to defend herself.

I have no love for Swift. At all. But that's an important bit of information. It's not like she randomly decided to sue a dude for $1 for grabbing her ass.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Anyone who writes their own songs and plays their own instruments automatically gets bonus points in my book, even if the genre isn't to my taste.

Anyone who can handle Kanye West being Kanye West without losing it also automatically gets bonus points in my book.

And anyone who isn't silent about being sexually harassed, especially if they're admired by millions of young women, automatically gets big bonus points in my book.

Tay may not be to my taste, but I respect some of her moves and I appreciate her talent.

You have to give credit where it is due. Taylor is super talented. Even if you don't like her music. The talent is real and the way she got popular and continue w/o any real negative stuff. At the very least is impressive.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

I love Taylor Swift and dig the new song. I can't think of a recent popular artist other than maybe Bieber where people are so proud to tell everyone how much they dislike them. She announced her new album and single like two days ago and The Ringer already has like 4 articles on their front page throwing shade at her. Is that really necessary?

I don't like Bieber as a person but I don't think he could ever come up with something as bad as this.

Over 200,000 dislikes on youtube lol.

I kind of like the bridge, but the chorus SUCKS. Kind of like third-tier Brittney sort of terrible.

Re: Taylor Swift -- Discussion Thread

Lot of talk comparing this to Right Said Fred, and them even getting songwriting credit... but when I first heard this my mind went to Fergie's "Fergalicious" and JJ Fad's "Supersonic"
