Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Iggy Pop & the Losers at Hollywood Palladium on 4/27/23. It was my first time seeing him despite being a fan for most of my adult life. I actually decided to get close and was about 5-6 feet from the barricade. What an insane night! It was very cool and unexpected to have an audience of mostly 50-somethings moshing along to the entire show. Also, a good mix of younger folks which is always great to see when you're seeing an older artist. Despite his age at 76, Iggy still manages to run around stage the whole show and even leaped over the barricade into crowd at one point. The band was stellar: Chad Smith on drums, Duff McKagan on bass, Andrew Watt (he produced the new album) on guitar, and Jaime Hince (from The Kills) on second guitar. Several cameramen were filming from the stage and the floor. I'd love to see a live recording of this run of shows released. In summary, one of the most inspiring and intense shows I've seen.

Caught Iggy and The Stooges at Riot Fest quite a while back, and was thoroughly impressed. I can't imagine what that guy would have been like to see when he was 30 years younger. I'm not real keen on his albums, but would definitely be up for seeing him live again.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Iggy Pop and the Losers April 29 at The Palms in Las Vegas.

Hard to believe this guy is 76. He performed a solid mix of his classic and some of his new stuff. Great encore of “Walk on the Wild Side”, “ I Wanna Be Your Dog” and “Louie Louie” too.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Last Wednesday I was able to see The Warning (hard rock trio featuring three sisters) and Plush at The Observatory in Santa Ana. An awesome show by both bands. Female-fronted bands are absolutely crushing it these days!

Then last Saturday, caught The Bobby Lees at The Echo in Los Angeles. They're a blend of garage-rock/punk from Woodstock, NY. Incredible band. Look them up and don't miss them when they come to town.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Spiritbox at the House of Blues in Chicago Monday and Tuesday nights. I think this is the first time I've gone to see a same show back to back, and it's interesting to see how tightly scripted all of the banter between songs is for all of the bands that were performing. I'm not a super fan of any particular band, so I'm sure there are many people that catch a bunch of shows from the same band on a tour, but it was a new experience for me to witness. Plus, there was no thought from any of the bands to mix up the setlist, even though I would guess 30% to 50% of the crowd was there both nights.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Concert Week at Live Nation started today $25 all-in tix for certain shows. I got Pixies, Brit Floyd, and the Celebrating Bowie Tour with Peter Murphy singing.

I picked up Avatar, Emperor and Tarja. Babymetal for $25 is a steal compared to the $83 regular price, I already paid $300 for their merch VIP to get early entry. The deal isn't that great for the larger venues that only give the price for lawn or upper deck seating, but it's perfect for the GA venues like House of Blues and Aragon.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

5/5 Taylor Swift, Nashville, TN

I went with a friend that’s a Swiftie. While I appreciate her talent, her music isn’t generally on my playlists but damn, what a performance and production! I mainly go to rock shows so tens of thousands of girls of all ages screaming at every song was a new experience.

Yep, my son and I caught them last year and he wanted to go again. Easy decision at that price. Plus they mix it up enough tour to tour that you don't feel like you are seeing the same thing over and over.

We also saw the Australian Pink Floyd Show last year and we preferred Brit Floyd. Thought the vocals were better.

I got Lawn Tickets for Rob Zombie/Alice Cooper and Pavilion Tickets for Garbage/Noel Gallagher. Missed out on Offspring.

Zombie tickets were weird, I wanted to buy 3, but every time I added them to the cart it told me someone beat me to them and to try again. It let me check out with 2 separate orders of 2 tickets and 1 ticket though. Restriction was supposed to be 8, so I wasn't buying too many. Whatever I got them.

I scored free tickets to Bush in the early 2000's. Holy hell, all the women screaming "I love you Gavin" made it near impossible to hear the band.

I saw Motley Crue on their first farewell tour and the 60 to 70 year old women wearing too short skirts showing their vericose veins while screaming was really bad.

There was a lot of loud screaming between songs for my show in LV, but during the songs it was fine for the most part.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Opener for Spiritbox was deathcore band After the Burial. I kind of like how the lighting on this photo turned out. Now I begin a killer stretch of 6 shows in 8 days, featuring an eclectic mix of bands from around the world, starting tonight with a metal band from New Delhi India, Bloodywood and an electronic punk metal band Wargasm from London England opening.
