One and Only U2 Reissues Thread

I don't own the JT Deluxe set yet, but here's a different perspective to ponder over...
I was THIS close to buying the MSLF or whatever it's called CD of the JT off ebay for over $300!!! I backed down at the last minute because of another financial hurdle.
This is a CD I would pay mega bucks for, if the sound quality is exceptional. From what I hear the new JT remaster is very good, but what I want to know is, does it hold a candle to the MSFL cd? If so, I will jump on it in a New York minute! I'm a sucker for sound quality.
However, if someone replies and says they've compared the two, and came away with the impression that the MSLF CD *still* sounds superior(even slightly), then I will most likely still continue to hunt down a copy, because that's just how badly I want the very best sound quality version the Joshua Tree.
So....what say ye?

Plus, if you were about to drop 'mega bucks' on the MSLF version, what's another $30 bucks for the remastered version?
If I were you I wouldn't even think twice about this one, buy the Deluxe version you, won't regret it.

Boy, October, War: Remastered
U2’s first three albums have been remastered and will be released by Universal on July 21st.
Following the remastered release of The Joshua Tree last year, Edge has overseen a similar remastering of Boy (1980), October (1981) and War (1983). All of which have been remastered from the original audio tapes.
Each album will be released as a standard single disc, a deluxe double version including a disc of b-sides, live tracks and rarities, and an LP version pressed on 180gm virgin vinyl.
The packaging on all three titles has been restored and expanded, with new liner notes for each record, previously unseen photos and full lyrics. More details as we get them.

I wonder if the b sides on the remasters will be the complete collection of b-sides from the time of the album itself. I'll look forward to these since I don't have any early U2 in my collection.

while it'll be nice to have these three remastered, i'd be looking most forward to hearing Under A Blood Red Sky, Zooropa, and Achtung Baby remastered.

As mentioned, it would have been great if they could have included a live DVD with each disc of a show from that album tour, like they did with Joshua Tree.

in all honesty though, remastered sound is the selling point for me here. i'll take whatever bonus tracks they want to throw my way though.

I wonder is meant be "remastered". With the Edge overseeing it I think everything will be alright, but there has been a lot of discussion over at Murmurs.com about the "Loudness Wars" that complains about some "remasters" simply being the originals with the volume cranked up.

anyone have specs for the upcoming U2 At Red Rocks DVD?
after the gold standards that Universal set for ZooTV and Popmart, I really am curious to see what they have in store for this, which was really the show that put U2 on the map in the 1980's. I know it's coming soon, but I haven't heard anything about specs. Considering it's a 25 year old concert, and was before U2 really had become megastars (as opposed to all of the easily available footage for Pop and Zoo), any idea of some extra goodies on these? I am not the biggest fan of live DVD's and only buy them from a handful of artists, but U2's are always so well done that I find myself buying it even after telling myself I have too many live DVD's.

The only thing I felt missing from the Zoo and POP dvds were...
The zootv fox tv special would have been a great extra. Some of the footage is included. I think it was only 45 mins, so they could have included it on the 2nd disc.
Also, it would have been great if they had made retrospective featuretes with some new interviews.
Other than that, these sets were amazing.

there's a discussion on amazon.com:

Amazon UK has this CD and a companion DVD set for a mid-August release date. Even the official U2 site (www.u2.org) has no information about it. There is some indication that the new album will be out in late October 2008, however:
That New Record
Paul McGuinness has been talking to BBC's 6 Music about the new record - and when it might arrive.
The exact release date, he said, was "not clear yet but I would think towards the end of October".
"We will obviously work with whatever technology is available to make the release of the new record as interesting as possible," he added.
