Re: One and Only U2 Reissues Thread
I got Boy and October deluxe editions and like them but what's with them being nearly max amplified? I don't think they're clipping but pretty close to it, annoying. That's my gripe with lots of reissues. Otherwise they're pretty good, I wish the 70s stuff like "street mission" etc was included with Boy though.

Re: One and Only U2 Reissues Thread
First off, I can just tell, but its out there that they took some demos and "added" to them to make complete enough to release.
From Wiki:

A song called "Birdland" was considered too good to be a B-side and was kept for later use;[18] in 2007, a re-recorded version was released with the 20th anniversary edition of the album as "Wave of Sorrow (Birdland)".
For TUF

To that end, Bono and The Edge told BBC’s Edith Bowman they recently have been sorting through demos and unreleased recordings from the Unforgettable Fire sessions with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois. The two specifically mentioned a song called “Disappearing Act,” which Bono described as “incredibly special.” The band recently touched up the song in the studio, adding fresh vocals: “It’s 25 years ago, the drums, the bass and the guitar. And now, the voices. It is a strange, weird thing,” Bono said. The Edge brought a copy, which partially was played on the air.

Re: One and Only U2 Reissues Thread
Still no news on Achtung Baby reissue? I remember reading it was supposed to come out in Sept. You would think they would at least release it in time for the holidays. Hopefully, if it does come out next month, it will be something special. Unforgettable Fire super-deluxe edition was a bit of a letdown since they didn't include a complete(or nearly complete) live show.

Given the lack of official news on an AB release, we definitely won't see anything before the holidays. My earliest guess would be sometime in Spring 2011. Given that their USA dates have been rescheduled to next summer, perhaps the release would coincide with that.

Ugh, I came into this thread hoping it was news of the AB and Zooropa deluxe releases. Sigh.
The AB set needs to have a full Zoo TV live show on DVD.

100% agreed. I wasn't impressed with the deluxe set they released for TUF, so I just got the 2-disc version. A full show is absolutely essential, IMO, for AB. Too many extraordinary performances that have been captured from that era to be totally ignored. Here's to hoping...

A quick Google search results in a lot of "it's in the works" stories. Here's hoping to some releases on par with the Joshua Tree reissue.

Aren't they releasing (or claiming they will) a new CD in the spring? If so, I wouldn't expect an Achtung set until this time next year.

Re: One and Only U2 Reissues Thread
Pop is actually one of my favorite U2 albums. Whenever I revisit it, I think I will only play one or two tracks, but end up playing the whole thing from beginning to end. Musically speaking, this, to me, is one of their best-written and best-produced albums next to Achtung Baby.

They could just release a single of "Angel of Harlem" remastered and most people would be fine.
I tried watching Rattle & Hum when it was released on HD DVD. What a load of self-righteous garbage. Thank goodness the band steered clear of that in the 90's.
