Since his latex face and silly accent haunted me during the entire film, I'd like to congratulate Tom Hanks for his "worst supporting actor" Razzie. Well deserved!

Here's Why the Oscars Red Carpet Won't Be Red This Year — Breaking a Decades-Old Tradition

The red carpet is synonymous with glamorous entertainment industry parties, awards shows and premieres, but the Academy Awards are trying out something different for Sunday's 95th Oscars.

On Wednesday, host Jimmy Kimmel — who returns to the awards show this year for his third hosting gig — stood outside Los Angeles' Dolby Theater as the Academy rolled out its brand-new champagne-colored carpet, breaking a tradition of red-colored carpets that dates all the way back to the 33rd annual ceremony in 1961, according to the Associated Press.
As if the haters needed another reason to hate on the Oscars.

So, not to nitpick but an article about why the red carpet won’t be red this year should probably include WHY the red carpet won’t be red.

That article just explains that they changed it to champagne but doesn’t explain why.

I was just watching ABCs Red Carpet show. They said the academy thought a lighter color was be a dramatic contrast with the red drapes.

Re: 2023 Academy Awards

I heard some discussion about the carpet on a news podcast last week and they said one reason might be that many of the attendees' colorful dresses would "pop" more against a muted carpet color.

Yeah more like "Flamin' Hot Pants on Fire". The movie should be about what a shameless lying con he is who stole credit from the woman who came up with Flamin' Hot.

Re: 2023 Academy Awards

I just watched RRR and to me, it was a good movie. Surprised it wasn't nominated for Best International Film. A lot of people were surprised that the song Naatu Naatu won. To me, that song was good. Also like the dance sequence they did was great. Reminded me of musicals from the 50's.

In my opinion, Chris Rock should have been the one suspended, not Will Smith. I hate comedians that poke fun of people handicap and/or have medical conditions or illnesses. But you can see, the Academy supports them.

Back in the 90's when they suspended Richard Gere for talking bad about China, the Academy suspended him for 20 years. The Academy should apologize to him. They only claim that it was because he went off script. BS. After all, they did nothing to Jane Fonda going off script about the Vienam War.

It's already been stated a billion times that Rock had no clue that Jada had alopecia. Most of the world didn't. I can't imagine the general public is clamoring to watch her family's tell-all talk show, and i imagine many tuned out indefinitely after the very uncomfortable, 'coming clean on the cheating' episode she did with Will. Regardless, the fact that you think a guy who blatantly assaulted someone in front of millions should not have suffered the ridiculously mild consequences he did, is slightly troubling.

He was supposedly banned for 20 years, but the Academy denied it. If he was banned, it certainly didn't last 20 years because he was there the year Chicago won.

And let's be clear here : Jada doesn't have a disability. She, like many women in their 50s is losing her hair. It happens. And she chose to deal with it by shaving her head rather than wearing a wig. Good on her, but it's very different than say, laughing at a cancer patient.
