The Academy’s final voting runs March 2-7, with the Oscars set for Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby Theater in a ceremony airing live on ABC and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

Not many surprises. It’s interesting to see the full 10 nominees for Best Picture even if a few of those seem like very dark horses.

Even though I didn’t love it as much as most of you, it’s nice to see the peeps from Everything Everywhere all at Once being nominated. The nominees for Best Supporting actor could be split leading the way for Ke Huy Kwan to win it.

Nice to see noms for Paul Mescal, Andrea Riseborough and Ana De Armas (Blonde stunk, but she was excellent in it).

Rooting for EEAAO to win Best Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actor/Actress and Costume/Music, but likely Cate Blanchett is a lock for Actress and Spielberg seems to be the frontrunner for director..

A solid roster of nominees. Not a lot of surprises or upsets but that's okay, this is a good batch.

I wonder if ​​​​​Marcel will take Best Animated Feature but I ha e to tell you, we were all pleasantly surprised by how good Puss N' Boots: The Last Wish is. It's simply a great movie.

Can't figure out why Glass Onion and Top Gun: Maverick are nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. Is it because Johnson wrote a sequel based on a character from the first? Is it because several versions of the TG:M script were drafted before the final writing team and/or because it's a sequel? I've always considered "adapted" meaning it comes from other source material like a book. Never occurred to me a sequel script could be why something is "adapted."

Pretty good list. I think Paul Dano should have been nominated instead of Judd Hirsch from The Fabelmans. He was much better and more nuanced in a much bigger, more important part. Plus that would have created an Oscar ceremony where three of the villains from The Batman were nominees.

Weird that Nope was completely shut out. Should at very least have been nominated for sound.
And Janelle Monae was snubbed for Glass Onion. I thought she was fabulous.
My indie music loving daughter is thrilled that Mitski picked up a nom for her song from EEAaO and about the Paul Mescal nomination, assuming he is actually still dating Phoebe Bridgers.

I haven’t seen The Fabelmans yet so I can’t speak to the performances but looking at it from the outside, I wonder how much of the “Jessica Tandy effect” this is. Hirsch is 87 and not likely to be in another Oscar worthy performance. Dano is 38 and will almost certainly be nominated in the future.

I’m not saying it’s fair, just what I think the explanation is.

I was all-in on Butler after seeing Elvis last summer but I watched The Banshees of Inisherin last week and was so impressed by Colin Farrell‘s subdued performance. I’m low-key pulling for him to win.

I suspect Fraser is still the front runner but The Whale, and Fraser’s role has some controversy behind it. I wonder if that will scare Oscar voters away.

India did not submit it for International Feature. They submitted Last Film Show instead.

RRR is a more worthy film to nominate for Best Picture than Avatar, IMO.
