You mean when he tweeted this?

"There will never, EVER, be a replacement for Prince. God knows I tried." (with a photo of himself dressed as Prince).

Or this:

Grim Reaper: I'm so sorry...
Prince: It's all right.
Grim Reaper (singing): I never meant to cause you any trouble...
Prince: (laughs)

Or this:

"Prince died? Welp, guess it's up to me now." -- Jimmy Buffett, probably."

Or this?

Dear #Grammys: Let Willie Nelson do the Prince tribute and Lady Gaga do the Merle Haggard one. Not joking. Show how universal they were.

You're right, what an asshole he was. Better piss on his kid or something.

But I'm sure TGM will find that tweet shortly after her death that justifies this all. She was probably a crisis actor anyway.

I'll do the work for you. He retweeted some things on the 21st. She died in her sleep that night. He retweeted a few things about her death on the 22nd, 23rd and 28th. He wrote a tweet about her on the 29th and about their daughter on the 1st. He retweeted something about her on the 3rd and then started tweeting about "normal" stuff again on the 9th.

Please, no more Patton Oswalt talk. I lost respect for him, and his opinion about this movie means nothing to me which is all I was trying to say.

To make amends I'm working on Leslie Jones erotic fan-fiction if anybody wants an early preview.

Again, I am a piece of shit, with a really messed up sense of humor. You don't like the picture, stop talking about it, stop replying to my posts. If you have an issue just put me on ignore.

I remember thinking it was odd that he'd RT articles about her death the very next day, but I (mis?)remember another tweet which I thought was from him which was not just a RT and seemed very inappropriate at the time. But if I'm wrong about it, then I'm sorry.

MOVING ON.

Release day review embargos have always historically been a bad sign, I think it's more telling then whatever positive comments come from a few actors at the moment.

That info comes from the Facebook of the guy who likes to say "Fant-four-stic" in his videos. He managed to get a whole following by doing nothing more than creating a power point presentation based on the Sony leak and the Reddit Stanz1984 leak. Leaks that were available to everyone. He never broke any news himself.

Since that post several critics have been asked about the embargo and said it hasn't been changed.

Seems like an okay guy. Not sure why anyone thinks it's okay to ridicule him about what they perceived of him based on what they thought he tweeted.

Anyway. Has it ever helped a movie to embargo reviews before a movie came out?

Captain America: Civil War had a review embargo. It seems to be a pretty common thing at this point. I can't say that it helps, but it didn't seem to hurt that film.

I can't say I put a lot of stock in Oswalt's reaction. He's seemed on the defense for this film for a while and frankly I lost some respect for him after he attacked James Rolfe for simply making a video explaining why he didn't want to see it.

But Civil War was almost unaminously considered a good movie.
Ghostbusters looks like it is going to need all the help it can get.

Weren't reviews for Civil War out well before release?

http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/he...mbargo-lifted/

It's more a matter of reviews not hitting until the same time the movie releases that are often done if a studio is worried about word of mouth on the movie.

It looks like it was about three weeks before. I'm just pointing out that review embargoes aren't a sign something is bad. If the reviews are embargoed until the week of, that's a bad sign.

Re: Ghostbusters (2016, D: Feig)

Yeah embargoes that last until the last minute usually don't seem like a good sign. It usually seems like the studio trying to hide that their film is a piece of shit and don't want negative reviews influencing the audience attendance. Especially in a case like this where the film has been met with a lot of backlash and controversy if it were getting positive reactions you'd think they'd want to get that out there.

Right, which it looks like Ghostbusters is (apparently the embargo lifts the day the movie is released in the UK?).

I'm pretty sure most movies have review embargos, I don't think anyone would think that alone is a bad sign.

I didn't think it was possible for these threads to sink any lower but apparently TGM and Me007Gold took that as a challenge. Sheesh, what deplorable posts.

Captain America was released overseas ahead of its US release, obviously they couldn't hold back reviews in countries where the movie was already playing in theaters.

Mad Max: Fury Road had a Monday the week-of embargo as well, Finding Dory's was the Friday before release.

Re: Ghostbusters (2016, D: Feig)

The reviews coming weeks in advance for Captain America was atypical. It was almost certainly a dig at BvS on Marvel's part. There's really no reason to publicize good reviews a month before people will be buying tickets unless you wanna rub your confidence in your competitor's face.

Looks really slapsticky. Melissa McCarthy being bounced around by the proton beam...ugh. The scene of Leslie Jones screaming when McCarthy is possessed makes me cringe every time I see it too.
