I like Anna Faris. Sucks about her and Chris so I hope she does well in movies. No, I don't watch much network tv.

It's crazy how well A Quiet Place is hanging in there. Avengers should fall a lot next weekend with Deadpoopl 2 coming out, but it'll be interesting to see (and that's a great hold). A Wrinkle in Time must have hit the budget theaters this weekend.
Stellar hold for Overboard. Studios are smart to be going for the latin crowd.

Avengers: Infinity War crushed it in China this weekend. With a $200M (RMB 1.266B) debut, the Disney/Marvel movie becomes the 2nd biggest industry three-day bow (local currency) behind The Fate Of The Furious. That helped push the Anthony and Joe Russo juggernaut across the $1B mark at the international box office with $1.059B to date. The estimated global cume through Sunday is $1,606.8M.

A bit surprised how frontloaded Deadpool 2 was. Doesn't bode well with Solo coming out next week. Fox should've released it in August. Meanwhile, A Quiet Place keeps chugging along.

True. But it did have the benefit of Valentine's Day, though might've been even more if it wasn't spread to Monday with President's Day. If it were a normal 3-day weekend, I imagine it'd been like $150M. Given the praise of DP1, I thought this would've expanded on that.

(Generally Sunday night is not a strong pull unless Monday is a holiday.)
DP1 was also released in a dead zone of movies, people didn't just go to theaters and see Avengers or aren't waiting for anything in the immediate future (Solo, surprisingly enough) -- which means they'd be more willing to leave their house.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
With Memorial Day weekend coming up, I'd imagine Deadpool holds pretty darn well though. It'll be interesting how Solo, Deadpool 2, and Infinity War all do.
I really thought it would be doing the $150 million that early predictions had it at, especially since reviews have held up.

Oh no!! DP II is a bomb...
They will all stabilize by June 1 that is a deadzone with nothing of interest opening.
This should be a pretty good Memorial Day as well.

Let's see, Black Panther and Avengers each pulling in over $600m domestically, over a BILLION worldwide, DP2 has a $125m opening with a hard-R rating... sounds like superhero fatigue is really settling in hard.
It's over, Johnny. It's OVER.
