Ready or Not 2 is going to get absolutely crushed by Project Hail Mary this week.
I plan to see both, but it dumb to schedule that movie to compete this week, unless they really thought they were offering counter entertainment to horror fans.

I still have 4 movie credits with Cinemark, think I will see both, probably PHM first on Saturday and then Ready or Not 2 Sunday or Monday.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread

I find it so weird that there's no major new releases this weekend. Especially considering this is the beginning of Spring Break, at least here.
Ready or Not 2 is gonna get stomped by Project Hail Mary (and the NCAA Tournament) next weekend. This seems like the perfect time for it to come out and counter-program Week 2 of Hoppers.

PHM pulled $11m+ in previews which doesn't say a ton since there have been numerous previews - but it's very promising. Looking at a $60m+ opening weekend.
Ready or Not 2 did $1m in previews, should pull about $11m this weekend.
Hoppers crossed $100m domestic yesterday. It will likely have a minimal drop this weekend.

Excellent opening for PHM, good hold for Hoppers, middling showing for Ready or Not 2.

The first and most recent posts in this thread are both about hit adaptations of Andy Weir space novels.
This was the second biggest non-franchise opening ever, after Oppenheimer $82M opening.

I saw Ready or Not 2 yesterday and my afternoon showing was moderately filled. I'm sure the vast majority went to see Project Hail Mary.
Disney would have been better off holding it until later this summer when big releases start drying up.

Yeah, not sure why they wouldn't open it until August or even October near Halloween...

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
It's pretty remarkable how close PHM is to Dune 2 with it's release date and box office domestically. They've been close to tied daily through this first week, and 46m would match Dune 2's second wknd. Mario may take a big chunk next wk, so I'd say a 275m finish for PHM, 500m worldwide.

PHM actually pulled ahead of Dune 2, it's expected to pull about $53m this weekend, about a 34% drop. Dune 2 was down 44% to $46m

I do hope They Will Kill You flopping isn't too negative on Zazie Beetz prospects, big fan of hers.

Excellent opening for Mario with $190m five day. Stellar hold for Project Hail Mary despite the competition.

I have a feeling that They Will Kill You and Ready of Not 2 will have more of a cult following and do decent in other platforms. Just too much competition right now. Smaller movies like them are getting unnoticed. I’m on Threads and most I see there talk Project Hail Mary and Mario.

Yeah I think $14m is actually quite a bit higher than originally predicted. A24s 3rd biggest opening after Civil War and Marty Supreme.
