I’ll shamefully admit that I had no idea that was Cavill in MI:Fallout. But then, I tend to not study movies or watch trailers beforehand, and just turn off my brain and lose myself in the film.

I like Supergirl as a character but if the rumors are true about basically pushing Superman to the side and making her a central character that’s a bit of an odd choice to me. It’s amazing how much damage WB and DC are seemingly doing to two of their biggest characters. One of whom is probably the most iconic hero of all time and yet not being used in the foreseeable future, and the other while getting an upcoming film is in just about as messy of a state and a few steps away from being in the same shoes as Superman.

TMZ says this is all fake news. It’s a blown out of proportion negotiating ploy by Henry and also there are no Superman movies in active development, so there’s that. So Henry hasn’t bailed on something that’s not even in the planning stages.

Nope.
On the casting topics: I actually like (liked?) Cavill and Affleck as Superman and Batman. The movies were mediocre, Man of Steel absolute doo-doo, but it wasn’t the actors’ faults. Not sure how recastings are going to work at this point.

I also liked Cavill in the role. I didn't mind Affleck, though I still think the decision to go with an older, out of retirement Batman to mimic DKR was misguided.
However if Cavill wants a ton of money (and according to SAG rules, apparently once you play a role more than three times you get a huge pay increase anyway), I can see them letting him go and just recasting. One, it'll let them start fresh, and two, while I like him in the role I don't really think he's the draw of the films (though I could be wrong). From his perspective, if they're not going to pay him big bucks, other franchises will, and it's not like he's going to elevate his popularity by continuing to do Superman.
The problem is, they'll probably want to "New 52" it and start fresh but keep the stuff that works, so it'll just confuse the audience even more because they can't let go of Gadot.

Oh for fuck's sake, here come all the SJWs demanding Superman be cast with a black actor, the same people who think Bond should be black too

There's a difference between people pulling for something (ie: Bond, Supes) and SJWs demanding something - you can't clump all that shit together.
WB saw the profit Black Panther made and thought they were on to something. WB is also not always the brightest bulb in the pack.

There's no chance WB was pushing that Michael Jordan for Superman story that floated in the press yesterday. That was almost certainly from Jordan's own publicists pushing his name for the role.
Latest rumor I've heard is that Warner wants both Hal Jordan and John Stewart Green Lanterns in a buddy cop movie together. Jordan would be a candidate for John Stewart.

I recall a few years ago there were talks that Matthew Vaughn was a candidate to write and direct the next Superman movie. But, I guess that went nowhere.
I think this kind of falls down to the original Man of Steel Superman solo movie being a box office & critical disappointment along with Batman v Superman. WB and DC are probably scared off investing $200M+ on another movie that could bomb. Justice League being a massive disappointment didn't help matters either.

It's sad to me because I like Man of Steel, even if it does have flaws. It made for a decent jumping off point for more movies, but instead they rushed to Batman V Superman and Justice League.

I still think Man of Steel is decent at least in its first half. I don’t think it’s a horrible film but not a great one.

I recall one of the biggest criticisms of Man of Steel (mostly in this forum) was the non-stop destruction porn in the final act of the movie.

Yeah the end was just a Zach Snyder CGI action fest, but the rest of the movie I thought did a solid job (if not a little convoluted with that Codex stuff) of retelling Superman's origin and had a strong supporting cast in Costner, Crowe, and Lane. I didn't care much for Adams as Lois, but she wasn't terrible. I liked Fishburne as Perry too. I would have loved to see more of them in a sequel.

I think it’s good right up until Clark finds the Kryptonian ship in the Antarctic. I enjoy it up until about that point and then when he’s first trying out his powers. The Zod stuff even had potential but yeah when it started to turn into destruction porn it lost me.

Just no. Best part of MoS was him discovering his powers/the ship in the antarctic. Everything else, from the Dragon Riders of Pern Krypton to Pa Kent's ridiculous talk on "maybe you shouldn't save a bus full of kids next time" to Pa Kent's ridiculous death to hitting us over the head with Messiah imagery to Superman having the codex in him, to the 9/11 imagery to the running around falling buildings to the arguments that "nobody dies in that, all those buildings were evacuated" which was debunked, to the neck snap... ugh.
I did like what they did with him at the end of JL though.

For MoS failed because they wen back to Zod right away and there was just far too much dealing with Krypton rather than more of him becoming a hero on Earth.
