Bachelor in Paradise (1961) — Old fashioned but kind of charming, mostly for Lana Turner as I didn't completely buy Bob Hope in the lead role, and the final scene was just dumb, not terribly romantic. IDK, it was mildly entertaining for what it is, but can't think I'll remember about it down the line. ***/*****

I liked it but not sure I would buy it but probably watch it again in the future.

I own it on Blu-ray.
I know he is not the most popular guy but I liked the movies and the performances of Bale, Adams, and Carrell.
Maybe Adam McKay is the closest to Oliver Stone in his prime when it comes to making big political movies.

The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997) — Seen this a few times over the years and I needed some light-hearted entertainment. Movie pretty much relies all on Bill Murray. Not top shelf for him at all but I did find it pretty funny (plus Joanne Whalley was cute). ***¼/*****

S-U-C-K-S
The acting was horrible and not one big or recognizable name in the cast.

Spare Parts (2020) — Based on the cover I was interested. Unfortunately the movie itself didn't deliver, mostly due to the subpar acting and worse, bad dialogue. I actually found myself detached while watching. At the very least some of the gore effects and kills were okay. **¼/*****

Terminal Velocity - Rewatched this Charlie Sheen movie. Pretty fun action flick that doesn't take itself too seriously. Some great supporting turns by Christopher McDonald (I think that's his name) and James Gandolfini (I believe)...A fun movie I enjoyed as a kid and still enjoy now. Really wish Sheen had stayed sane because when he tried, he was a solid actor (I still think he was great in stuff like Platoon and Wall Street)...wish he could've continued to do great stuff but oh well...

The Bone Collector (1999) — Entertaining enough crime-thriller with both Washington and Jolie giving fine performances. Nothing outstanding and the dark mood doesn't always work (did like Craig Armstrong's score which I still listen to on my iPod). The ultimate reveal of the killer was a tad weak but otherwise it was okay. ***¼/*****
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
King Kong (1976) — A bit long but not terrible and had some adorably funny moments like seeing a man in an ape outfit tossing around a model train or hiding behind a building to avoid a helicopter. But seriously, the ape costume wasn't bad however his expressions were at times creepy, especially when looking at Dwan. Certainly one of the lesser of the Kong movies (though haven't seen King Kong Lives) but I guess watchable. ***/*****

All-American Murder (1991) — Pretty bad movie on its own but could have that good-bad element with trite dialogue and poor acting, or in the case of Christopher Walken sleepwalking through his part, must've been desperate for any money he could get at that point. There's also no real surprises with the culprit pretty obvious from the start. **¼/*****

The Pit Shudder
A creepy, stalkerish adolescent boy discovers a pit in the woods filled with carnivorous creatures which he feeds and cares for …and uses against those that annoy him.
This is a Canadian Horror film from 1981 that I understand sells well for Kino Lorber. It's a truly odd film with scenes that are unsavory, and some that are laughable. The performances run the gamut from merely decent to amateurish. Yet it’s all oddly watchable and I really wanted to see where this one was going.

The Virtuoso (2021) — Has some interesting elements but "The Virtuoso" (how Anson Mount's character is credited) is kind of an idiot for being some kind of world-class hitman (not sure why he'd take an assignment to some tiny town with no name or picture of his target), plus his monotone narration can lull you to sleep if you're not careful.
Anthony Hopkins was mailing it in as most stars of his ilk tend to do with these direct-to-video films (and majority of scenes take place in a dark office), but nice to see Abbie Cornish in all her glory... IDK, it's not at all terrible but doesn't make a whole lot of sense either.
I can see what the writers and director was going for, just didn't work all that well. **½/*****

Sanctum - Never did watch this during the big Cameron 3D crazy of 2010. It's fine. Probably would have been more interesting visually if I had seen it in 3D. (HBO Max)

He had some weird artwork and not my cup of tea though it seemed like a conventional bio of somebody who did not live a conventional life.
I had no idea he dated Patti Smith.

I saw Buscemi was it in so I checked it but was not that excited since it looked like a sappy cheesy family movie but it was rated "R" and had some grit and worth the time and not a bad movie at all.
Wonder why I kept this on my dvr since last July.

John Boorman wrote and directed this.
I don't get why it got horrible reviews though Catrell slipped in and out of that British accent.
Gleeson played twins and he was great as usual.

The Final Countdown (1980) — Pretty fun Twilight Zone-esque movie that was entertaining throughout. Always like the ideas of alternate history and while this doesn't quite change history in the end (and shouldn't given it was Pearl Harbor, not to mention when this movie was released, survivors were only in their early/mid 60s), still was a good time. On the downside, the actual travel through the portal was cheesy and cheap even for 1979/80. Oh, and "The Final Countdown" song kept going through my head while watching. ***¾/*****
As a side, interesting that only 7 years later, the sons of Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen will star in Wall Street...

Rush Hour - Hadn't seen this in a while, but I've always been a little meh on both Chan and Tucker, not that the latter ever really works. (HBO Max)

Back in 2014 when Bill Burr still had air.
I know it was not LOL funny and the director directed a lot of Sandlers vehicles so maybe that explains all the bad reviews
Banks was smoking hot in this movie.

Big Fish (2003) — First time seeing this since probably 2003 in theaters and it's absolutely heartfelt and charming, probably one of Tim Burton's best films, or at least one of my personal favorites of his. Great performances all around but especially Ewan McGregor and Albert Finney. Really well done. ****½/*****
