Witchboard III: the Possession (1995)

A crappy sequel filmed in Montreal. I remeber visiting a friend on the set back then for I was working on another production in the next studio and I was all excited for the set was spooky and cool. I guess I should have kept that fine souvenir and not waste it by seeing the film

Sweet Sweetback's Baaadass Song (1971)

The mother of all blacksploitations films! Which it even isn't. Still crudely done with no budget and all sorts of faults but what an energy and well-focused creative anger by Melvin van Peebles. Basically a film about how the Blacks (or Afro-Americans we now say) were screwed by Whitey on all fronts and how one man rose to give back shit! I don't think nowadays you could show a 10-year old actor (Mario van Peebles, the director's son) mimicking copulation on a naked adult lady without every conservative going on a crusade.
An important film no matter all its flaws.

36 Quai des Orfèvres (2004)

Solid French Crime Drama. Fantastic performances from Daniel Auteuil & Gerard Depardieu.

Even though the film was made in 2004, I thought some of the editing choices were strange at times and other times a bit dated.

Same with some of the choices in music and how they related to specific scenes.

Nice seeing those hot blonde wrestlers but there is no new ground broken with this movie though wonder what movies Stephen Merchant has in his future.

I kind of love this scrappy little Bond knock-off. I'm not saying it's very good, but it's got that indefinable mid-'60s vibe that I find so appealing.

Do you remember the scene in Sleepless In Seattle where Tom Hanks and his brother in law are discussing the end of this film? I remember watching DD as a kid and got very choked up at the end. Wasn't used to heroes being killed off.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)

There are quite a few missteps that keep it from being as good as the two films before it.

Overall, it's still a fairly entertaining ride.

I was so happy to see Cecep Arif Rahman & Yayan Ruhian get a solid amount of screen-time to display their skills & abilities!

Brightburn (2019)

Large splashes of gore and a creepy mask can't cover up that this film doesn't have a single new idea to its name.

You'd think with most of the script writing itself, borrowing heavily from the mythos of Superman & every Killer Kid film from the 1990s, the Gunn Family would find places to be a bit more creative.

Jailhouse Rock - It was silly but fun. Parts are incredibly dated but it holds up well for being a cheeseball Elvis film

Hound Of The Baskervilles (hammer) Peter Cushing plays Holmes great and Christoper Lee was good in the role of the Heir to the cursed home. Both leads are my favorite actors so im biased in likeing this film. The Hammer budgets wernt always the best but this one did very well with what they had.

The Gambler 2: The Adventure Continues - The 3 Hour runtime hurts the flow of this one, the fun of the first movie is still there but its incredibly drawn out and the pacing is horrible. this should have been 2 hours max

It has a good message but zero LOL moments

Maybe having three screenwriters killed its chances of being a memorable comedy.

Body Count (1998) — Decent enough cast wasted on shoddy editing and direction. Not sure why they had to have the heist itself told via flashbacks, why not just have a linear story? 2.5/5

Captain Marvel (2019) — It was alright. Some entertaining scenes and the de-aging they did on Samuel L. Jackson was fantastic. Still not sure about Brie Larson in the lead but at least showed far more personality than her blank stares in Endgame. The visual effects also was fairly good, especially on Earth (vs. on Hala or w/e it was called). Worth a rental. 3.5/5

I haven't seen Sleepless in Seattle. But it was a rare thing back then for Hollywwod to kill off so much 'heroes' at the end. But they still saved the biggest one (Marvn) and the #2 (Bronson) so people wouldn't feel too down! I can imagine as a kid back then, the shock. My son hated Star Wars Rogue One because the two heroes die in the end!

Orca (1977)

I had enjoyed this on first seeing it about 5 years ago. On second viewing, it becomes apparent that it's an Italian rip-off (as they did with a lot of american genre blockbusters back then) of Jaws. Still it has some impressive marine photography and a bigger budget than the usual italian clones of the time. Plus Michael Anderson did a fine directing job. It still is pretty silly but it has some charm.

Pretty much a High Noon in Space. Good performance from Connery his conversation with his son was touching.

This was not bad and maybe the closest Hart has come to a serious dramatic role though he needs to work on acting if he wants to do more serious role.s

Ma (2019)

The film gets points for having Octavia Spencer in a Genre Film but also how ridiculous it decides to get.

Even with that, the film's endless flaws are very apparent and hurt the end product.

Five Feet Apart (2019) — Same story, different disease. The acting from Haley Lu Richardson (who I really like and hope gets more opportunity to be the lead) and Cole Sprouse were both good, the plot was exactly what you would expect with some questionable decision-making by these characters. Still, it wasn't awful, so that's something but I also don't generally watch these kinds of movies... 2.75/5

If you thought this would be a masterpiece you are correct

I liked Megan Park more than the tall blonde assassin.

I liked it the first time but after a repeat viewing it was nothing special.

I forgot I saw this movie before
