I agree, but actually dug that part, because I sort of hated Bradley Cooper's character. He was mental AND he was a dick head. The romcom aspect seemed to almost neutralize the dick head part. De Niro was awesome, though.

Killing Them Softly - Wow, what a stylish, dreary, western-like take on the gangster genre. If I had seen this in 2012 it would most certainly have made it to my top-10. I was floored. The cinematography was epic.

Cloud Atlas - imo, the hype was justified. Such a multi-layered film - can't wait for the Blu-ray. I'm hoping it will be fully loaded.

Django Unchained. For the 3rd time. I really cannot get enough of this film. I would love to see the original 4 1/2 hour assembly cut.

End of Watch...good, enjoyable performances by Gyllenhaal and Pena, but nothing at all happens for 11/2 hours of the 1:49 running time.

Zero Dark Thirty I enjoyed it. Played More like a documentary than a movie. Jessica Chastain was good but I'm not sure Maya was a strong enough character to support the entire film. fascinating story though. I'm not sure i would have enjoyed it as much as I did had it been about another subject.

Lady Vengeance- Entertaining film, but clearly the weakest of the Vengeance trilogy.

End of Watch - nothing special, mildly enjoyable, not too different than what you get in Southland

The Last Stand

Very fun action flick with some humor thrown on. Good to have Arnold back on the big screen again.

That's pretty much what I thought. It felt like a longer episode of Southland with curse words and more graphic violence. I think the characters of Southland resonate more with me than Gyllenhaal and Pena's on this movie.

I actually thought Oldboy was the weakest. I know that's internet heresy but that's how I feel about it.

I watched Taken 2 tonight and was surprised by how terrible it wasn't. I had heard so many awful things about it, and while I do like the first one better, this wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be. The first one wasn't some action masterpiece, it was Liam Neeson kicking ass. This was just more of the same.
