Not digging these posters at all but I do give them credit for doing something different than the norm.

Well I sure as hell like the colors better in this than in EX2. I'm digging it. Looks fresh too in its visuals. Hopefully this younger guy gave the film a fresh dose of awesome.

Why the hell have they adopted the Fast & Furious font?

To make people who like it think this movie will be in the same vein? I have a theory that there's a deep-seated fear among marketing that people will start seeing movies because they actually want to rather than because the trailers tell them they want to. Next thing you know, they might start making their own decisions! Anyway, glad to see Li back. Hopefully he'll have Yuen back to choreograph him beating the shit out of someone, and I will be happy. Cast looks way too crowded, but hey, whatever. Hope this won't be the last go-round, but I can't imagine any more after this.

Re: The Expendables 3

Pierce Brosnan already announced that he's been offered a role in the next one so, unless this movie is a huge bomb, the franchise isn't over.

Yeah yeah, I know it's a "nod" to the B movies from the 80's. So I expect cheesy. A cast like this deserves better. Sorry, just my opinion.

I'm pretty sure anyone will tell you that part 2 was a much better movie with a more fun tone. Maybe you should give it a try.

The second one is everything the first should have been.

Yeah, the second was way better, and I enjoyed the first one. I'm happy that these movies are getting made, they're a lot of fun.

There were some unfamiliar names in that, plus one that really seemed out of place--Grammer--but I'm willing to give him a chance, esp. if he's funny. Also, I dug the "avec Gibson, avec Ford, et Schwarzenegger" bit. Somehow, seeing it in French gives it more, oh I dunno, cachet!

As long as Van Damme gets a real fight versus Stallone, I'd be all for him returning as Vilain's evil(er) twin.

Re: The Expendables 3

I have a feeling that Harrison Ford's appearance in the trailer is about the extent of his appearance in the movie. I think he said he only shot for three days or something like that.

Yeah, the same amount of time Willis was needed before the role was rewritten for Ford. I wonder if he works for Gibson or was killed by Gibson (thus starting the emnity between Gibson and Stallone).

Re: The Expendables 3

“Everything’s big,” laughs Hughes. “I had my assistant keep count of how many people we killed each day and literally at Day 16, we were at 1200 people! That’s just one of the things about the Expendables - the waves of bad guys you’ve got to take down. It’s not just a couple of henchmen, we’re fighting an entire friggin’ army.”

Never saw Red Hill but the title stayed in my mind. Any comments on that?

Red Hill is legit and cost less than 1 million dollars to make and it looks like a 5-10 million dollar flick.

It's an urban western with actual western elements - looking back at it - it's somewhat reminiscent of Last Stand but on a much lower budget and scale.

Oh wow, didn't even realize that Patrick Hughes directed Red Hill. That raises my interest quite a bit. Red Hill is a nice little gem.

Yep, Stallone handpicked Hughes based of off Red Hill to direct EXP 3.

Re: The Expendables 3

That actually excites me. Some young blood handling this.

Sly what he did in EX1, it was ok. I enjoyed it by it was mind numbingly simple and cliche.

EX2, i hated aside from the intro. But beyond that it had no inspired direction. Some of you loved that one.

EX3, we get a fresh pair of filmmaking eyes. Which I hope hones it all in plotting and visual.

Re: The Expendables 3

So the cast rolled into Cannes on tanks. What caught my eye was this, which is very disheartening and pretty much killed my boner:

Though much of the cast are senior citizens, Stallone, is hoping to reach a younger generation with the next film with a PG-13 rating instead of the R-rating of the others to expand its reach.

Stallone also said the franchise would return to its action roots; the second one delved "too far" into the comic realm, he said.
