Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
I'm seeing it for free too on IMAX.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
So suddenly reviews don't matter for "films like this?" The last one that every DH fan apparently hated managed 81% on RT. Think this one will reach half of that? I didn't think so....
I hate to be negative, but it's obvious now the only reason Fox chose to market this as more of a Die Hard film was because the product simply isn't any good. Nostalgia was the last card to play... I wish I was wrong.... |
Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
 Aside from the poor dubbing I loved the last one.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
A couple of friends already saw it tonight. One said it was cool and the other said it was not very good. I'm seeing it tomorrow night, so we'll see how it goes.

As for those of you looking forward to that R rating, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Looks like Fox did the same thing to this one they did to the last one. http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=36470 Actually if you watch the unrated version of Live Free or Die Hard. The audio 'issues' are still present. Places we thought were censored in the PG-13 version like Justin Long saying "Fuzzy head"(we assumed he said "Fucking head!") is still the same, and no new dialogue is heard in the infamous post power plant scene where Justin Long appears to be speaking in the background, but no dialogue is heard(we all assumed he was on a profane rant, but such was not the case). And the F-bombs added to the unrated version are badly dubbed in and sound like they use the same take for every mention of the word and it's quite amateur in my opinion. So this all appears to me that the film was made as a PG-13, and then they badly attempted to 'pump it up' to an 'R' with the unrated version, and it didn't work. Of course fans and even the filmmakers may claim otherwise. But the results of the unrated version are not in their favor in my opinion. So the PG-13 version is the one that works best for that film. And yes, I do like the film. :) And as already pointed out before. The UK is getting a censored print to earn a lower rating. That does not mean Fox is using the same print in the U.S. with the R rating. Of course, we won't know until we see the film itself. But that's most likely the case. |
Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
I thoroughly enjoyed Die Hard 4 and I'll go to the grave defending it, but I literally don't have a single positive thing to say about A Good Day to Die Hard. Unreasonably, embarrassingly bad. I hope John Moore never works again.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
The one thing to me is that Live Free or Die Hard at least looked interesting. This looks like absolute garbage. Probably wait for redbox for this one. Sadly I have seen all the other Die Hards at the theater looks like that ends with the last one.

It's not that I think reviews don't matter at all, I just get sick of every person being so negative about each and every film that comes out.
Some things you just have to accept for what they are. Am I expecting the greatest film of the year or anything? Obviously not and I'm not sure why people find it so important to take reviews so seriously all the time, especially for a film like this which is a sequel to an action film. Plus realistically reviews are overrated. Some I do enjoy reading but I'd much prefer to see a film for myself and form my own opinion than letting someone else's thoughts cloud my judgments. |

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
The final shot of the trailer with CGI people falling in front of a CGI explosion looks like something out of a video game... from 5 years ago.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
If they do have a Die Hard 6, which Willis has been talking about,
I predict - and hope - that they revert to him being in an enclosed location. Hope to see a return of some of the old castmates - Bonnie Bedelia, maybe even Samuel L. Jackson or Rejinald Veljohnson. |

Except for the ones that achieve roundly positive reviews, great word of mouth, and big box office returns? Skyfall, Avengers, Dark Knight, etc.
Not trying to be snarky or anything like that, but honestly, as a fan of the franchise, why would you want to settle for mediocrity, "more of the same", formula, etc? Wouldn't you want to see the film rise above generic studio ho-hummery? Reviews aren't supposed to make up your mind for you. They're just an opinion, hopefully from an reasonably informed and intelligent source. Besides, I really enjoy reading smart, honest, well-reasoned reviews absolutely eviscerating films I love. More often that not, I end up enjoying those films even more, because I've gained some new perspective on it, whether I agree with that perspective or not. |

A limo with "CB, TV, VHS...." (That line alone dates the first one like no other....) |

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
That and the styles people had. I love DH but I think Argyle is a worthless addition in DH.
|
Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
Argyle alone is better than all of Die Hard 2, and apparently all of Die Hard 5.
|
Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
It's so disappointing to hear this DIE HARD is a letdown. I guess I should have known when the running time was announced at 97 minutes...it will be the only DIE HARD with a running time less that 2 hours...not that that's a sign of a bad movie, but it sounds like they tried to save a bad film in the editing room (which usually results in a WORSE film).

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard
9 reviews in, and ZERO PERCENT FRESH so far.
Let's see if this movie can end up being 0% fresh in the long run. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/a_good_day_to_die_hard/ |
