Can't wait to hear the explanation in the movie on that one.
It's pretty clear in the trailer that after Chicago the Autobots (as well as any remaining Decepticons) are being hunted down by humans. To that end, Optimus Prime and the remaining Autobots changed their known vehicle modes. This is also why Bumblebee is initially a modified vintage 1967 Camaro before later becoming a 2014 Camaro Concept.

That said, given the Energon Detectors used in the second and third movies, they can still be tracked. Which is why Titus Welliver shows up to harass Marky Mark and his daughter, once Optimus Prime is re-activated.

I did a search for Lockdown and read he has the ability to transform his face into a gun. I think he's the one walking in front of the giant ship.

The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise has easily distinguishable giant robot/combat vehicles. I wonder what a live-action film version done in Hollywood would look like. Has anyone ever expressed an interest in it?

Gundams would probably look more like their anime look since they don't have to transform. Maybe look like Pacific Rim robots.

Damn, I don't even remember what the Pacific Rim robots looked like.

One thing I liked about the Transformers' design in the Bay movies was that they used lots of primary colors, just like the Gundams.

I love the Pacific Rim robots, outside of the dark settings all of them were significantly more recognizable to me then the Transformers. Good comparison.

I always wondered why the didn't streamline the designs in the Bay films at least somewhat. Not so much in a fanboy "make them look exactly like G1" way, but the designs are so complex with so many pieces for ILM to animate that I've always wondered why they don't simplify it slightly to make them less unwieldy. Bay's rattling, ducking, spinning camera and rapid-fire editing combined with the cluttered visual design sense has made many scenes so confusing that I often struggled with who was doing what to whom.

Like we have inklings of it but it's just fluff essentially in the films. Also...how...we still can't have the fucking films focus more on the robots. We don't care about Sam and the others. We care about the Transformers. All humans are worthless to the plot aside from the military, which was actually smart to have NEST exist..cuz that'd make sense if it could be allowed.

I like how they're very respectful of the original designs but also very intricate in detail. Complex but not cluttered.

I fucking LOVED Fall of Cybertron. The "sequel" to it has the movie robots in it somehow too. I don't know. They fucked the developer of those games and I highly doubt that new one will be good.

I remember seeing this pic a few years ago and thinking how much fun it would have been to see something like this in the movie.

Interesting. Then they either ditched Cyclonus or renamed him Lockdown, similar to how Sentinel Prime was originally going to be called Ultra Magnus in the last movie.

Well, then Lock Down is Cyclonus. Stupid but not surprising. Any more name changes?

HR review... surprise, more of the same! A lot more...as in 165min! Hey guys - you can save money, get better reviews and have more showtimes if you bring the runtimes closer to 2hrs.

165 minutes? Good God.

I'll still see it, but damn. Guess no extra large sodas when watching this one.

They've all been bloated messes. High grossing messes. 20 extra minutes doesn't mean shit except that lots of the screenings will be selling out. Sold out screenings will offset the amount of showings per day.

I'd be far more tolerant of these movies if they weren't so ungodly ass-numbingly long. There is no reason that a movie about fighting robots needs to be longer than Bridge On the River Kwai.

I finally finished Revenge of the Fallen a few weeks ago and it is an ungodly mess. I don't regret having to leave in the theater 1/3 of the way in back in 2009.

The first one has no re-watchability, but Dark of the Moon has verged in to the so bad it's good territory for me.

How long was Bad Boys II? My ass was numb by the time that was over.

I guess when the movies make as much as they do, there's no reason to change anything. 2.5 hours again? Jeez

There was a time when that was a pretty major issue and they put the guns to the heads of filmmakers to make their films shorter. I guess guys like Jackson, Cameron, and Bay have enough clout to make longer films since everything they touch turns to box office told. We live in the age of excess now anyway, and I'm sure it's a hell of a lot easier to ship on hard drives than all those reels too.

147 minutes. A few good action pieces, but eventually the endless stream of swearing, vulgarity, misogyny, loud noise, and crashing just wore me down. Yes, bodies are being torn in half for comedic effect. How hilarious.

A pretty good 90 minute movie was buried under the bloated mess that is Bad Boys II. I've never understood the love for that shitfest.
