Everyone needs to remember that after Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation there is NOTHING this series can do to shit on itself any worse.

I'm going to hold you to this and if TC3D does manage to shit on itself worse, I'll expect you shit yourself and the whole cast and crew of TC3D to shit themselves and have to film the next movie in the series with their shat in their pants. And then they'll get a rash and that'll teach them to stop shitting pants.

This x 1,000
I'm surprised at all the hate on the 2003 Remake and it's prequel, when that film exists.
Still waiting for my local theaters to put up their Early Bird & Matinee times for this for Friday.

Didn't realize that Marilyn Burns and John Dugan were going to be in this.
Bill Moseley, Gunnar Hansen, Marilyn Burns and John Dugan all in this new film? Sweet!

We've got a couple of 10pm showings in L.A. tonight. I'll wait for the Blu-ray, though.

I actually thought the remake was decent and the prequel had some good kill scenes. However, we could disconnect those movies from the original but with this new one we can't and it could hurt. Even with Chainsaw 3 and New Generation you could view them outside of the realm of the original and 2 as neither had any connective tissue other than Leatherface himself. This one is bringing back the "original" family and is directly tied to the original.

I actually agree as much as some fans would probably give funny looks for me saying. The original movie is a good and is classic and all but it's also super dated and at times can be hard to watch. I really have to be in the right mood to want to watch the original movie. The remake I never thought was nearly as bad as people have made it out to be. It isn't a fantastic film by any means but it's watchable. I've seen way worse things out of the horror genre and other remakes that weren't nearly as good.

For anyone who is seeing it tonight (Thursday), can you chime in if it's worth paying extra for the 3-D?

Well, as far as a horror movie goes it was alright. The tone was more like Scream than the first few Chainsaw movies. Now, as far as this going along with the original I have to say that this movie takes a shit on the legacy of the original. This one starts off right after the first one ended but without really spoiling anything I have to say that the Sawyer family grew tremendously and it happened in no time and it went downhill from there. They thought they were cleverly using the names Carson and Hooper in this movie but that also spits in the face of the original. I will go into more details in my next, spoilerized post.

DO YOUR THING CUZ!

Oh, fuck everything about this film. The best part of the film is when the bad guys ripped opened Alexandra Daddario's shirt and my friend shouted out, "All right! This film went from an F to an A!"
... and for those of you wondering, no, you don't get to see her tits.

The dialogue in this was horrendous and trying to make Jed "Leatherface" out to be some putz that is ok to be murdering people to "protect the family" is downright stupid. Also, there were too many times that people tripped or were hit by cars in this one. Typical horseshit! I'm hoping for a better outcome with the Evil Dead remake.

My friend wrote up a review for it, but since I'm not allowed to post or link the full article I'll just copy and paste his intro to the review. I'm sure glad I decided not to go see it after all:
Starting this year out on the right foot, the latest entry in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise manages to put Hollywood in a position to go nowhere but up. I do enjoy my share of horror films and was happy to enter into this film with an open mind, but man is it terrible. Given my love for the original film and my general fondness for the second, the idea of a film billed as a direct continuation of the original entry written and directed by Tobe Hooper was slightly intriguing. Even in a post-Cabin in the Woods world, where horror movies can be boiled down to words on a dry erase board, I went for it. The results were not good. Texas Chainsaw 3D is not just a bad film, it is an idiotic one that literally cannot do basic math. Read on to find out why.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2012, some hack)
here's what our old friend brian orndorf had to say:
The staging of “Texas Chainsaw 3D” is unforgivably sloppy and sluggish, while the script actively avoids complexity by treating the entire story as simply as possible, despite developments that demand further investigation. Nothing makes much sense, and while I understand that’s often the case with this type of movie, it doesn’t excuse the disregard Luessenhop and the production has for their audience. “Texas Chainsaw 3D” seems primarily concerned with uneventful gore zone visits and dreaming up a myriad of ways to keep Daddario’s toned stomach exposed, finding Heather intentionally revealing her midriff any chance she gets. However, true nudity is missing -- a curious omission considering how much of screenplay relies on stale genre formula.
The acting is “Texas Chainsaw 3D” is universally abysmal, along with the production’s hyped use of 3D, which looks fuzzy during glory shots of the titular machine lunging toward the viewer. I’d label the picture a disappointment, but there really hasn’t been a striking “Chainsaw” entry since 1974 (sequels in 1986 and 1990 certainly had their moments, but failed to ignite), finding the 2013 model completely in line with previous duds. I’m not exactly sure what Luessenhop and Company were thinking when they assembled this stinker, though genuine thought appears to have been the last thing on their mind.

Must the first weekend of the year always be populated by a flaming piece of shit? Can't they throw us a bone and maybe release one of their limited Oscar bait movies wide instead?

I wish they would release part 3 on Blu-ray soon. It's New Line, so WB should be able to put that out.

Texas Chainsaw 2 wasn't a truly great sequel but it is leaps and bounds better than this one even if it were to have a paraplegic hurdler running the race.

Not sure why (after hearing all these bad reviews), but I'm still planning to check out the local Matinee showing in about an hour.
