Probably but with the terrible horror remakes we've had over the past few years I wouldn't doubt if the people working on this movie really ever watched the original or even know the name of it.

At least they didn't make it The Texas Chainsaw Meet and Greet.

Yes and no. The theater scene from Gangster Squad whether or not people agree with it is a pretty sensible change by Warner Bros. if you ask me. At the end of the day they are a business out to make money and to have a scene like that in a film after a shooting at a theater happened less than a year after it happened (the film is slated to come out in 2013 according to IMDB) could come across as fairly insensitive if you ask me. The word massacre not being in the title of this though is kind of dumb if it's because of Aurora, but who knows if that's even the case for sure.

I read the MPAA gave the film a NC-17 rating - no surprise there. but it will more than likely go out rated R and the home video version will be the original 'unrated' cut.

Fuck, at this point I'm happy for a horror flick to be released at an R rating as opposed to being watered down to PG13 for mass consumption.

I like the poster but it falls more in line the Platinum Dunes remake/prequel than it does the original TCM.

The film only cost 8 million to make and the dude that's playing Leatherface may not look big from those shots, but is reportedly 6'6 in height. He's bigger than Andrew Bryniarski who played him in the last films.

Yawn.

Another group of fresh-faced fucks getting turned into BBQ, only this time we don't have Biel's ass to distract from how bad the film will be.

Of course, I'll see it.

I actually don't think the trailer looks too bad. Sound was pretty solid.

Will probably check out in theaters (it is January after all) if they have 2D showings as well.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2012, some hack)

Doesn't look like it has anything to do with the original at all. Hell, just the gate upon their arrival takes away from any direct sequel that they are trying to claim. Is this supposed to be a sequel set almost 40 years later or simply a sequel that takes place shortly after the events of the first movie? Also, we didn't see one glimpse of the other characters in the movie like Bill Moseley playing the Cook.

It's amazing how no one can make an original trailer these days. It's all cut and paste now. Same beats, same formula, same colors.

It also appears there will no longer be a massacre, just a chainsaw from TX. Maybe this is some existential life story of the creation, use, and life of a chainsaw.
Maybe the producers didn't want the word massacre in it in case something happens like some nut did at the DKR showings.

That's a very plausible point.
