Big time. I had a friend that I watched it with get all "disgusted" by it. He said it was way too bleak. The prequel.

I thought it was great.

even in it's R-rated state the gore factor was quite high.

I had the same thing happen to me, my horror fan friend was really put off by it, I made it up to him by picking a comedy/second film of the day to alleviate the 'bleakness' element.

I'm in the theater right now to watch it again and I am the only one in here. I am so fucking scared!

I understand you are seeing it (probably) for free, but why go see it again?

You obviously hate the film more than any other poster here and have more posts in this thread than anyone else. Why waste your time?

I wanted to see if my hatred was valid and I really wanted to see the first few minutes again. It was a decent slasher but still was lacking the true chainsaw feel. And the ending was still a bit too ludicrous to be believable.

Well, the sequel was officially greenlit. It will be shot later this year in Louisiana.

I saw the TCM prequel twice theatrically. The first time was by myself, and the second was with a friend who wanted to see it. Anyway there was only a few people in the theater including a teen couple. And they looked freaked out and bolted from the theater near the end of the film during the dinner scene and never returned.

And yes, I was surprised how unrelentingly gruesome and violent and mean the R version of that film was. In fact, the unrated version hardly made a difference to myself in the gore department, but it's better in terms of more character scenes with R. Lee Ermey and such which was rushed through in the theatrical cut.

I haven't seen the new film yet, but I'm certainly going to wait for a rental or the dollar theater if it does show up there. I can't seen myself paying the full ticket prices most theaters charge today for this film and the 3D doesn't sound worth it either.

I do think shortening the title is really stupid though. I recall growing up, we used to say "Let's rent Texas Chainsaw" since it was just casual talk. But actually calling the film that is stupid and just doesn't feel right at all. I could understand them being a bit nervous having 'massacre' in the advertising at the moment. But the actual credits for the film should read texas chainsaw massacre. But I hear they didn't even do that which is just lame.

And I'll admit, TCM: The Next Generation is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's just so batshit insane in a good way, that I can't help buy enjoy it, mainly for Mathew McConaugheys performance as Vilmer. I tried to hate the film originally, but it aired on cable so much back in the 90's, that I couldn't help but watch it not believing how bizarre the film was, and once going along with it, instead of being upset that it wasn't the scary serious film I expected. It won me over. The dinner scene with Grandpa's sudden departure always cracks me up for example.

"I think it's a door."
"Push it open!"

I've heard some horrible fucking dialogue in my life, but that shit? Words...I don't have any. Horrible movie. At least Next Generation had a sense of humor.

Forgot to mention a family sat down in front of me, but quickly bolted when the chainsaw went through Franklin in the flash back.

Not sure what they thought the movie was.

lol! Maybe they thought it was another family adventure. Well, it was another family adventure movie but one they wouldn't soon forget.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2012, some hack)

Saw this earlier today. Really not good. I'm a sucker for bad horror though, so it hit the spot. If that makes any sense.

Alexandra Daddario is smoking hot. Mesmerizing eyes.

Wife and I had a good laugh at the end. Everyone had left the theater and we were staying behind to see the post-credits scene. Midway through the credits, a lady came in with (possibly) her son and her mother. They sat a few rows behind where we were. I thought it odd that they'd be seating for the next showing before the credits were even done, but didn't think much of it. Credits wrap up and the scene starts. When
Spoiler:
Leatherface pops out
, the ladies gasped extremely loudly. We had a good laugh at that. They must have been extremely surprised because they were in the theater for a Django showing starting in 20 minutes, lol.

See, if they would have just kept the word 'Massacre' in the title, this type of thing never would have happened.

That was the marketing "genius" here. Take out the word 'Massacre' and you make a few extra bucks on the unsuspecting.

Pretty sure I read somewhere, that Massacre was taken out after the Dark Knight shooting. Shrug.

That was just their excuse for taking it out.

I've loved Daddario for years, but even her hotness can't salvage this piece of shit - the sheer stupidity of the way the finale plays out is unbelievable. How anyone could have thought that would be a great way for things to head is beyond me... just jaw droppingly stupid.

This film would have done well at the Box Office either way.

Look at most of the widely released Horror films of 2012 (or most released in the past 4-5 years for that matter). Compare Budget to final Box Office total. Regardless of how the end product turned out, these types of films always do well at the Box Office. Not sure how many times I can say that.

Well, considering The Devil Inside made quite a bit of money this time last year then nothing is really surprising.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2012, some hack)

I guess they're not going to start filming the prequel yet. They want to craft a well written horror piece and that takes time. The fuck?

Yesterday came word from producer Avi Lerner that his Millennium Films was officially moving ahead with a follow-up to last week's box-office topper "Texas Chainsaw 3D".

It was suggested shooting would begin later this year in Louisiana. Now, producer Carl Mazzacone and executive producer Mark Burg have said that there's no progress and Lerner was flat out wrong.

Burg says: "Millennium simply sold the foreign rights and they will not tell us when a sequel is ready to be made. The script was developed by Carl, myself and writer/director John Luessenhop. Millennium and about ten producers came aboard only when we needed their check. Maybe they’re looking for something to sell at Berlin, but they have no right to announce this sequel and if we make another it has to be as good or better than this one and that takes time."

I know full well I could easily catch flack for this - and rightfully so, perhaps - but I want a sequel.

This is because I am an unabashed horror apologist, and I like seeing my childhood icons on screen. Now, I definitely have a problem with them being inserted into terrible films, but even as bad as TC3D was I can honestly say I know I'll buy it and watch it again. I own all the other films in the series.

I just really hope we get a lot more chainsawin' next time.

I'd be down for a sequel too.
