Yeah, was in the parking lot when I got the error message. Went home, and I'm currently watching the last couple of episodes of Lost in Space with the wife.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I jinxed myself with my earlier post. Went to see Sorry to Bother You right in the midst of the outage earlier. I didn’t see the news about it until I opened the app at the theater. Since I had already drove 30 minutes, I paid out of pocket. Has anyone had any luck getting reimbursed during outages in the past?

On their Facebook they are reporting the outage is still going on as of 1 hour ago. Man, I should really stop giving this inept company money.

Lots of angry posts on that page.

Probably near impossible since they announced publicly there was an outage. YOU made the choice to see the movie anyway.

Well, ALL showings of Mission Impossible is peak priced. It'd be cheaper just to pay $5 out-of-pocket instead of the surcharge. Plus it won't register on the card I'd seen the movie.

Man... reading their Facebook is hilarious and annoying all at the same time. The sense of entitlement of some people: "You guys owe me a ticket or a equal composition. I had to travel from my home to theater and incur other logistical expenses to go a movie at specific time with the very reasonable expectation that the service I pay for will work. This utter crap and media will justifiable eat you alive if you don’t get in front of this and make good with your customers."

"logistical expenses"? Ok...

I understand being annoyed about it all. I certainly am and will be cancelling, but come on.

I’m going to try to hit a matinee today of MIF or TTGTTM, so hoping the issue is straightened out. I am fortunate I have one theater less than a block from my house, and another only 2.5 miles. Hampton Roads has tons of screens, so lots of choices. Advantages of living in a military area.

8am eastern -- 1. an alert pops up that the system is down. 2. there is already peak pricing all day on major releases.

Not only is there peak pricing for all major releases, but they restricted my account from choosing the regular, non-3d, Mission Impossible showings. Of course last night's "system issues" were to prevent users from seeing Mission Impossible.

Yeah, I'd love to see someone defend this. So many eticketing users that we're reaching peak already?

5 hours ago it had all showings peak but now they're premium.

Some interesting things on Reddit. Mostly rumors. But looking less likely to me that service will be restored.

Also: stock taking another 50% hit this morning. $3.50

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

Yikes:

https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/d...osmatheson.htm

On July 27, 2018, the Company issued a demand note (the “Demand Note”) to the Holder in the principal amount of $6,200,000, which includes $5.0 million in cash borrowed by the Company from the Holder and $1.2 million of original issue discount.
The $5.0 million cash proceeds received from the Demand Note will be used by the Company to pay the Company’s merchant and fulfillment processors. If the Company is unable to make required payments to its merchant and fulfillment processors, the merchant and fulfillment processors may cease processing payments for MoviePass, Inc. (“MoviePass”), which would cause a MoviePass service interruption. Such a service interruption occurred on July 26, 2018. Such service interruptions could have a material adverse effect on MoviePass' ability to retain its subscribers. This would have an adverse effect on the Company’s financial position and results of operations.
Time to lock in the AMC price while it lasts.

Wow, I just checked my app and it looks like they’re not paying for Mission Impossible. All shows are greyed out. Plus everything is peak pricing before 11am now.

Oddly, I noticed that etickets is not listed as peak pricing. But that’s only for select theaters. The closest theater that supports etickets near me is a really junky old theater.

Were they making money back in the 20-40$ sub days? It's sad and frightening to see how fast a company can be run into the ground.
Yeah I might need to start going to AMC as well.

Mi:f is blocked for me too.

etickets have never been part of peak pricing, probably because they have deals in place with those theaters. It's also currently the only way you can actually see a movie with moviepass, at least until the eticketing theaters cut them off because they fear non payment.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

Just switched to the AMC A-List and cancelled MoviePass. MP still has issues with their credit card service today at 12PM and they still show MI as blocked. My suspicion is that they ran out of money. What is happening is exactly what happens when a credit card company cuts you off.

Going to the movies is my #1 pastime. I don't want to have to jump through hoops to go. I want to go when I want to go. The savings was great (approx 60 movies in 9 months, hundreds $$ saved), but the AMC deal is still good for me and lets me choose my seats in advance, which is important to me as well.

It's not just a suspicion, see my post above. They had to borrow 5 million yesterday to pay off their processing company because they missed a payment.
