I actually liked Elizabeth in both the sequels for the most part.
The Will character is just a complete void/blackhole for entertainment though, they couldn't have come up with a less interesting character. |
Pirates 3 was my favorite! Much better than 2, and I think the first one was great, but, it needed more adventure.
|
I like all three movies very much, and I really hope they do greenlight part 4. The sooner, the better for me.
|
I'm in the 1, 3, 2 camp with the PotC movies.
Same with Star Wars and a the first three Indy's. |
Looks like Pirates 4 will happen.
And then Dick Cook says, "Well what do you think? Johnny Depp as Tonto???" The crowd goes mad-wild and he says "OK, done." Then goes onto ask if he thinks we should have Johnny back for another Pirates film? T he crowd goes mad, Dick Cook says "OK, done. "The theatre erupts. Johnny mumbles some things in character and then darts off. Maybe was on stage a total of a minute and barely said anything. It was such a fun day! |

Sigh. This franchise is so cooked. The first, so great. The second, terrible. The third, even worse. Where can they go from here!?

Seriously, the third film was so bad they have to know that a major improvement is needed here. Jettisoning Will and Elizabeth is priority #1. Making the film more accessible and fun is #2. |

A fourth movie would be good if they can just make it into a single, entertaining action movie. |
Depp to reportedly earn $56 million for Pirates 4. The Daily Mail has been wrong in the past (see: Britney in Faster Pussycat) but this number doesn't sound too far fetched, considering the franchise has earned $2.6 billion worldwide so far.
|
True or not (I'm assuming some of this will be from profits?), I can honestly say that I think he fucking deserves it.
If it gets made, I'm in. K |
The first one is one of the most overrated films of the past decade. Didn't bother with the sequels, won't see this either.

This is bad news if it's true:
Efron To Star In Pirates Of The Caribbean 4? 17 October 2008 10:31 AM, PDT Heartthrob Zac Efron will pick up the biggest pay cheque of his career when he signs on to star in the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie, according to reports. Disney bosses want to groom Efron to eventually replace Johnny Depp as the star of the franchise, and they are offering him $10 million (GBP5.4 million) to star alongside Captain Jack Sparrow in the next installment of the blockbuster film series. A source tells the National Enquirer, "Disney knew that Zac was reulctant to do any more High School Musical movies. He had already said there was 'no way' he'd return as Troy. So the Disney brass came up with an offer he couldn't refuse." In-demand Efron has also been slated to take over from Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway when the Brit's run in Equus comes to an end. The 21 year old hunk has denied those rumours. What's next? Miley Cyrus appearing in the film to replace Kiera Knightley in future Pirates films? Vannesa Hudgens is the only Disney actress who should appear ina Pirates film. And she has to appear wearing something skimpy. |
I don't care if he is in the movie, but him getting $10 million and being expected to take over the franchise makes that story sound a bit far fetched.
|
I wouldn't expect any less from Disney or Hollywood. They say: Well High School Musical is popular, so let's throw the star from that to Pirates of the Caribbean, so we can bring the tween crowd and sell Zac Efron dressed as a pirate on toys, posters, calendars, etc. That will make us millions!!!
|
*gag*
(And I don't even know who the hell Zac Efron is...) |

You can say that again.

He's the lucky son of a bitch banging Vanessa Hudgens.
|
If true the good news is that Johnny Depp can be awesome in other things and not part of overrated franchises.
The bad news is that a Pirates movie with Zac fucking Efron, to me at least, will be shot in 3D and the glasses will have a Halloween III-like effect on the audience. |

Zac Efron is gayer than a gay thing. Thankfully, I don't see this ever happening.

Re: Pirates 4 maybe!!!!
Verbinski's had enough 'Pirates'
Director to focus on 'Bioshock' By MICHAEL FLEMING It's no longer a pirate's life for Gore Verbinski. After spending the better part of the last six years directing the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, which grossed $2.6 billion worldwide, Verbinski has informed Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer that he will not helm a fourth installment that's expected to set sail in 2010 with Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow. Sequel is in development but not yet greenlit. It's unknown how Verbinski's ankling will affect the pic's schedule. Verbinski will instead focus on other projects that include "Bioshock," a Universal Pictures adaptation of the bestselling vidgame that has a John Logan script and is likely to be Verbinski's next film as a director. "I had a fantastic time bringing 'Pirates' to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team," Verbinski said. "I'm looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future." Verbinski is still working with Depp, though. He has been directing "Rango," a CG-animated film for Paramount Pictures, with Depp voicing the title character. Logan wrote the script based on an idea by Verbinski. Paramount has set a March 2011 release. Verbinski's U-based Blind Wink Prods. is developing several other potential directing vehicles, including "Clue," a live-action murder mystery based on the Hasbro board game, and a drama based on a Wall Street Journal article about the online fantasy role-playing world and its debilitating impact on the real lives of players. Steven Knight ("Eastern Promises") is penning the latter. CAA reps Verbinski. |
