that's pretty fucking cool of Depp. I love these kinds of stories.

NOT exactly like Depp...but this was so gosh darned cute and super nice of Reynolds.

Looks fun to me, Blackbeard looks bad ass.

Well, that did nothing for me.

Cruz looks TERRIBLE in her role. And what's up with the bad effects? The blade through the door and the explosions looked like some Sci-Fi channel work. This did very little to excite me. If McShane weren't the villain, I'm not sure I'd even see this.

Looks cool, I just hope it's a tight 2 hrs to make up for the last ones.

Looks to be a step up from part III, which I didn't find to be the travesty everyone else apparently did.

Was that Keith Richards they showed in the preview warning Jack about the Fountain of Youth? I guess they decided to use him afterall.

Looks like they are dedicating time to boring us with a romantic subplot featuring a bland younger couple.

Really? Looks like they just showed a quick glimpse of the younger couple. I hope they spend very little time with any romantic subplot. Overall, looks like more of the same - which isn't a bad thing.

Well I'm guessing the younger couple are the leads from the book on which this movie is partially based. I'm hoping they keep them in supporting (albeit key) roles and just let Depp and Rush carry the show. Then again, the trailer seems to suggest that is exactly the case.

I will be okay with that, I just don't want it to be a case of "okay, we need to have the Orlando/Keira characters in this, except not..." so they create people to try and "connect" to the tweens.

I'm afraid that's exactly what they're going to do. I thought the three prior films were decidedly bloated and underwhelming in every regard.

This looks like more of the same.

Johnny Depp's Captain Jack character is more than a little tired at this juncture.

So in essence you disliked all including the original. That kind of disqualifies you from being a fan IMO.

Everything I've read makes no mention of the young characters, and they don't even get lines in the trailer, so I doubt they play that large a role. Plus, there's no way with all of the big names for which they've shelled out money the filmmakers or studio would have the focus be on unknowns.

Looks like loads of fun. May it be the sequel the first film should have gotten.

Not sure about the trailer as to content, but that HD quality you posted is the bee's knees.

I have to say, I was rather ho-hum about this at first, but now I'm rather excited. I think being free from the Elizabeth/Will story and having a new director both bode well. I get a sense of an actual focus for this story (find the Fountain of Youth), which is nice. And Penelope Cruz traipsing around in that costume for two hours can't be a bad thing, so yeah; I'm in!

Looks like Ian McShane is going to rule this one. Kind of like Geoffrey Rush did.

Unless, of course, he finds himself as minimized as did Chow Yun-Fat in the last one. For now, I'm content to hope you're right.

Amen to that. Can't say enough bad things about #2 and #3. Two of the worst sequels (and films) I've ever had to endure. Just awful.

I actually really liked 2 and 3, mostly just because of Davy Jones and his crew. That's still the most impressive CGI I've ever seen.

I enjoyed both. I found them to be fun. I was entertained, not a profound, life altering experience.
