I heard that in this movie they use a version of the mask with a great big hole on the top of it so the hair can stick out.

Okay, that makes sense. I was worried over nothing!

Apparnetly, the shitwads making this celluloid abortion didn't learn from the "Emo-Spidey" backlash against Spider-Man 3.

It turns out that the director's favorite superhero is Gambit. ;)

Are you kidding? This is the internet. I can say with certainty that The Hobbit would have been better had Guillermo Del Toro directed it, and Scream 4 isn't as good as A New Nightmare, and The Day I Ate A Peach And Became Emperor of the Universe--a movie I made up right now--is stupid!

Will this movie include a performance by Train singing some hot soft rock hit as well?

Looks like the studio has its hands all around this one.

This may be absolutely abysmal.. looks like they're trying to rope in a younger crowd. How did the rights not revert back to Marvel?

because as long as the company who owns the rights does something with them every so often (see Fox trying to reboot Fantastic Four) they get to keep them for a certain period of time.

how much are the rights and why isn't Disney fighting for them in some battle of buying it?

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

Fox and Sony would probably be asking for an arm and a leg for the rights but hopefully at the very least FF and Daredevil go back to Marvel. Apparently Blade has reverted back and Marvel announced last year they got The Punisher back.

The big one though to me is getting back the Fantastic Four and opening up the galactic universe.

Yeah, i'm sure a buyout would cost hundreds of millions, given the merchandise and profit Fox or Sony have made off of X-Men and Spider-man properties. I can't imagine them easily giving those up.

Because all contracts made prior to the Disney buyout still had to be honored, and Disney, as the owner of Marvel, will still make money off of a Sony Spider-Man movie (as well as revenue from the merchandising boost after the movie comes out).

The 3 films grossed $2.5B in total BO alone. And as long as they continue to milk the film franchise, they can keep making money. Disney won't pony up the kind of cash they'd ask for.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

Yeah, Disney bought Marvel for $4 billion, if the papers are correct. Spending over half that (if that is even the amount that would be agreed upon) for just one property (albeit a huge one) when they could just kick back and make the money off of Sony definitely seems like the better option for now.

First shot of Andrew Garfield in costume

See a high-res image at the link above. Could those be small, metal webshooters on the bottom of his wrists? No more organic webbing?

Odd, Slashfilm's image kills some of the color and detail. Here's the same image over at The Playlist:
