I don't know Nels Van Atter, but Irrfan Khan is an awesome actor, so that gives me some confidence in the character.

The latest news on this movie isn't sounding good. Not good at all.

Not to derail the thread, but I hadn't heard about Leary stealing from Hicks. Source/info?

Since Van Adder worked with Norman Osborn (in the comic), I'm a tad worried that Ifans will be playing him, although I'm hoping those rumors of him being the Lizard are true. I'm about goblined out.

This movie is starting to sound like a joke and it's reminding me of Superman 4. Why don't they just bring in Swiss Miss as the main villain so that this movie can advertise the Spiderman musical.

OH! Now I know why the fuck I don't know who this Proto-Goblin is....it's that fucking flashback thing Marvel did..ugh...intersecting stories into the main continuity from Spidey's past and padding it some more w/ (if I remember it well) worthless stories set in whatever place in time it was set in. While everything drawn on cover looks generic..I do love that drawing of Osborn. That smug and evil bastard.

Is that Jim Lee? It looks like Jim Lee. I think that's Jim Lee.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

shit..you may be right. That'd be sad cuz I loved Lee's work in X-Men (the titled comic..not Uncanny X-Men) that shit was awesome and still amazing.

Re: Spider-Man (2012, Marc Webb)

It's Dan Fraga.

And while that particular issue was awful, most of the other Flashback books were actually pretty decent and fun. I particularly remember enjoying the issue that had Richard and Mary Parker rescuing Wolverine from Hydra.

Anyway, can't imagine at all why they'd go with "Proto-Goblin" over all the other, better members of Spidey's rogues gallery. WTF.

I wonder if Garfield will bring his dullness from THE SOCIAL NETWORK to this film.

Have yet to see The Social Network but The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus was the second film I saw him in where he was not impressive.

I didn't think he was dull in the Social Network. I thought he was pretty good, to be honest. Although I still think Logan Lerman would have been better (despite the "haters") after watching Percy Jackson on HBO.

I thought he was great in The Social Network, but he looks terrible here. Looks are only part of the performance, though.

Oh well, a flying bag of poo would be better than the Raimi movies, so this still has hope.

agreed. He was fantastic in it.

These set photos make him look ridiculous, but that's only part of the performance...I'll wait at least until the trailer to judge anything about this film.

Far, FAR too early to be bitching now...

Isn't it very possible this is before he gets his powers? Or does he already have them when this film starts? Remeber the big transformation scene from Spiderman 1.
