It was alright. Stylistically it looks in keeping with the original movies. I'll probably check it out opening weekend.

Oh wow the trailer looked amazing. Hype level rising.

Yeah too bad it didn't show during the SuperBowl. This trailer looks better than all the ones that were shown during the game.

Looks good, but Matt Vaughn can make this work. I just hope he has a good script.

Same here. Giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I liked what I saw. Fassbender definitely looks like the right choice for Magneto.

Digging Fassbender as Magneto, and any view of Jennifer Lawrence in a bed is a good one, even if she does turn into a blue creature.

However, I still cannot fathom how this is supposed to tie in with the first one. I know they say prequel, but so much seems out of sync.

Yes like Beast. They changed that around.

What seems out of sync? They acknowledge Beast having a history with the school in X3. And in the first movie, they kind of just start with the X-Men already established.

Ignoring the comics book history, are there any continuity issues between the movies? I can't think of any major ones...

Sort of depends on the timeframe. Beast in X3 seemed rather old, so his inclusion shouldn't be a problem. Ditto with Mystique, who could be any age.

I initially thought it was going to have young Cyclops and Jean Grey, but it doesn't look like that's going to be the case... would be problematic to include someone like Cyclops since he looked about 25 in the first movie, and this one looks like it's set about thirty or so years in the past.

Come on, I knew Vaughn could bring it. I never had a doubt. This made my day. After a super crappy week.

Given the inclusion of JFK, I'd say more like fifty years.

Well, since I gather X1-3 are early 2000's, I'd say 40yrs. That'd make Xavier and Magneto 30ish in this movie. Just my guess. Hopefully we can get a trilogy out of this series. Great teaser!

I wasn't too impressed with the trailer itself, but it was cool to see a whole new cast and other characters.

Trailer looked good. Hoping to hell and back that the film itself holds up.

Looks pretty good. Anyone know what music they are playing the trailer?

Re: X-Men: First Class (Vaughn, 2011)

Well, yeah I liked that a lot more than I thought I would. Still not convinced based upon the history of this franchise, that as a once loyal Xmen reader, I don't think they have ever gotten 100% right. X-Men was my favorite; X2 was alright, but I'm never compelled to revisit it, I know others feel very differently. X3 and Wolverine Origins were some of the worst mainstream movies I've seen made in the last decade.

I'm not sold on Vaughn yet. I did enjoy Kick-Ass, but I think the direction is extremely uneven in that movie. Still haven't watched Stardust and never finished Layer Cake. I just LOATHE Guy Ritchie and some of the things I don't like about Vaughn I think he picked up probably from working with him.

Casting of Fassbender and McAvoy from me.

And given Emma Frost's age I'd put it about 15 years after Origins: Wolverine. Oh wait....

I couldn't care less about continuity or whether it's true to the comics. Just make it a good, entertaining movie, and I'm in. The trailer certainly showed some promise.

But it does have his brother Alex. Which makes them what, like 30 years apart?

The 'look how many missiles at once!' scene? They might as well have had a 'look at all the helicopters!' scene.

I'm expecting crap... who knows maybe it will be a pleasant surprise.

If X-Men: First Class is better than Wolverine, which shouldn't be difficult to accomplish since Wolverine was quite awful, then nobody will care about anything in the latter.

You really need to watch Stardust. Its a great movie.

I'm pretty excited and impressed with the trailer. Looks pretty good.
