Spoiler:

There's a disturbance on the Moon. A robot shaped disturbance. Scientists on Earth see this and the information gets passed up the chain of command. In the White House men in black suits are breathlessly running through the halls, and they burst into the Oval Office. The president is behind the desk, back turned to the door, looking out the window. One of the men tells the president, 'Sir, something's happened on the Moon!' The president turns around.

It's John F. Kennedy.

Yes, the opening scene of Transformers 3 takes place in 1961 or 1962. The gist of the story has to do with the Transformers' involvement in the space race, and this is the reason why JFK was so hot to make sure America was first to the Moon. It sounds like a fun direction; there are a lot of stupid conspiracy theories about Neil Armstrong et al meeting ETs on the Moon, and this is a fun way to play with them. I hear this was Spielberg's idea, and it really does sound like something he'd come up with. If you're like me and you like the Spielberg-influenced Transformers but hate the mostly Spielberg-free Transformers 2, this is all good news.
If true that's interesting.

I dunno what Blood Hunt is but I'm guessing you're being sarcastic, given your other two mentions.

Supposedly it's just one scene when Bumblebee goes undercover, though the reason is unknown. But that's not a bad idea. And it's a convenient way to exclude Mikaela from the story without killing her off.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

Given it looks very humanoid, I'm gonna guess it's a US or USSR built robot. That or this is something akin to Primacron or the Quintessons (which had organic parts in the G1 show).

Why insist I not try to make sense of it and still insist on asking what it is?

I'm guessing the Einstein-Bot is somehow related to the design of this robot:

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Role Confirmed for Transformers 3 - Sam Witwicky’s Future Wife?

So they waited until part three to bring in Carly, thus making the whole will they/won't they development in the first two movies totally pointless? Classy.

Whatever. Their romantic subplot better not cut into the screentime of the robots or explosions any more than the last romantic subplot did.

Re: Transformers 3 Announced

All they had to do was pull a Die Hard With A Vengeance with Mikaela and not bother with any sort of romantic subplot. Besides, there's already a romantic love triangle in these movies: the Optimus Prime/Sam Witwicky/Bumblebee robo-bromance triangle.

Transformers: Nefarious Issues 1-6

Also... I found a Transformers style Wikipedia.net (tfwiki.net) that give some details from Issues 1-4.

All I can say is that there is a fight between N.E.S.T. and another "Secret Military Group," along with the following "Cybertronians" are involved Arcee, Buzzsaw, Dune Runner, Ironhide, Jolt, Knock Out, Optimus, Ravage, Ratchet, Sideswipe, Starscream as well as Soundwave, who plays a VERY big roll in this final Transformers Series, yes, the ENTIRE series. It also seems that Megatron plays a smaller roll due to not being "Combat-Ready" and still recovering from his battle with Optimus (from R.O.T.F.).

Not quite sure if ANY of this material would be used for the upcoming sequel TRANSFORMERS 3, we'll have to wait and see, or stay tuned to the blogs.
Sounds cool. Given the increased scope of the NEST team in the third movie as compared to the second movie, hopefully (unlike most movie tie-ins) this actually has some weight to the events in the third movie (but not required reading, of course).
