Both she and Fox look plastic. Is she actually taking over Fox's role or are they just creating a new character altogether? The latter makes more sense IMO.

She's a new character. Her name is Carly. According to the original cartoon Carly ended up getting married to Spike Witwicky, who was basically the same character that Shia plays. So, I assume she'll be a love interest, but I don't know if they're just going to pretend that Mikaela never existed or if they'll give a reason why she's no longer with Shia--broke up, moved away, died or whatever.

If Bay's contempt for Fox is real, then I wouldn't be surprised if one of the first scenes is of the Decepticons committing an act of destruction that we will find out killed Mikaela. If this is supposed to be "dark" as the title suggests, then that would make sense.

While I'm not certain about the actress, I am glad the love interest is someone from one of the original sources. Didn't Carly have a crush on Ironhide in the original? No telling what kind of fun Bay and his insensitive writer Ehren Kruger could have with that one.
