I would say he is one step above a hack.

Based on nothing other than a sketchy reading of the above, it sounds as if Soccio is pretty much being paid merely for being Smith's pal and keeping an eye on things.

Speaking as a fan of some of Will Smith's work, actors who want creative control, huge upfront fees and a share of royalties annoy me. If they are so able, they should take more of a risk one way or the other i.e. just creative control and a royalty or just an upfront fee.

I have more respect for those actors and directors who will take a big fee on a so-so movie so that they can be involved in a less commercial project. Or those who regularly put their own money into a production and so actually pay for their creative control.

[But I know that the film industry and its economics defy analysis, so it isn't really worth me commenting!]

I liked the first Men in Black, Get Shorty, and the Addams Family movies. Nothing else he's done excites me. This whole thing just doesn't sound like it's going to end well, in any event.

What about his work as cinematographer on the early Coen brothers movies?

I'm really surprised they're not going to make this "Two and a Half Men in Black" and have Jaden Smith as a kid agent.

He has directed very good movies and a few tv shows.

Director:

Hackett (2008) (TV)
It's like he's not even trying to hide it!

When I saw those pictures I really thought it was Tommy Jones with magic hollywood makeup to make him look younger.

Pretty amazing.

This is what's wrong with the production....

When will Sony stop sucking this guy's dick?! I guess they're that hard up for a franchise guy.

Oh, come now. It's not like it's an act of selfish extravagance at a time when the majority of Americans wonder are struggling to compete for minimum wage jobs far beneath their skill level.

"The fake quotes in that article are pretty obvious," moaned William Fuld, to no avail.

I actually feel pretty bad for Smith. I mean he has to get out of the residential trailer, and then round that corner to go to the Gym. Couldn't they have developed a tunnel that connects both trailers together?

Re: "Men in Black" gearing up for third edition

I hope all you people outraged about his trailer are happy now: he's had to get rid of it and use a standard movie trailer:
http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/news/will...r-ncx-20110513
NEW YORK -- Will Smith was forced downsize to a bland, generic movie trailer Thursday, a day after the "Men In Black III" star was shamed out of his marble-floored mobile mansion by angry locals and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

"Will has to live like normal people -- at least for today," a set source told the New York Post.
Did you read that? Will Smith, having to live like normal people! What is the world coming to?

I know it was fun to joke about it because that thing was absurd but why would the locals and the mayor even give a fuck?

Apparently it was a gas-guzzler, generating noise and pollution all-day to power the thing. Businesses were also hurting due to less street traffic and visibility, although that's probably due more to the production overall than this specific trailer.

Because it takes up a ton of space and has a buzzing generator running 24/7?

Edit: Jay beat me to it.

Well that makes sense. I thought it was just people bitching that he had a mega-trailer.

How is he going to survive the shoot without a 100' movie screen in his trailer?

And to think that Tarantino wants to hire this guy to star in his next film.
