$40 million under?! Jesus...I bet WB really loves Nolan for that. Talk about hitting every front for the studio. Gets solid flicks in that get critical and financial gain AND he saves you money? Sounds like a Movie Exec's dream right there.

As much as I'm excited to see wtf TDKR is like...I'm more excited to see what he does after it. See what he tackles and how he does it.

I'll be more excited if he goes back to smaller films.

...that's a vague description...do you mean something smaller than his WB career? Like Memento?

Smaller than Inception or the Batman films.

so Prestige and Memento size? Yeah...I'm indifferent on what he does as long as it's good. Though if he can tackle something as well as he did as The Prestige that'd make my day.

With Potter done, Nolan is WBs golden goose. Apparently he does run a very tight ship which is why his movies tend to be stuffed to the brim, and I'm sure he's all over the storyboards. He probably spends more time in pre-production than actual production, making sure every scene fits together and has at least 3 things going on at once.

As far as he's concerned TDKR is probably already completed, he's just going through the motions of shooting it now.

I've read that while there are obviously alternate takes of scenes in his films (such as the shot of Joker from inside the school bus as the hospital explodes in TDK that went unused), there are no deleted scenes for most of his films because he's already worked through the shooting scripts enough that he and the crew know what to just avoid filming at all, rather than film it and it doesn't work with the story.

Nolan said his favorite part of the process is editing, because of all the possible ways of putting things together. So I would say that he has a long (fun) way to go. He also does as little second unit as possible, preferring to stay behind the camera at all times, so that's cool too.

And as we all know editing itself is directing.

Makes me really happy to see Nolan (or any other director that are well deserved) getting all this healthy amount of control of his films w/ a big studio at his age. Being as he's a surefire for WB as a cashcow, I wonder if Nolan will ever leave WB for a project or (what I think) will WB get the projects he wants?

I wouldn't be surprised if he just set up shop there for a while, kind of like Clint Eastwood whose movies, with few exceptions, have been distributed by Warner. Fact is, Nolan has made Warner a ton of money and, especially, got them a healthy profit from an original work. It's one thing for Batman to succeed, it's another for something like Inception to make as much as it did (though no doubt it is thanks to what he did with TDK).

yeah, TDK's (very resprectable) cred has a lot to do w/ Inception's take. Still...to convince the studio for Inception must've been a very interesting meeting. Again though...I'm sure TDK just made WB agree w/ little or no hesitance.

Not only that but I'm sure it was a quid pro quo that if they finance Inception, a script Nolan has been working on since the 90s IIRC but couldn't get made due to the budget, that he would in return direct TDKR.

When you make a film that becomes (at the time) the second highest grossing film domestically, you have carte blanche to do whatever the fuck you want.

And yes, Warner agreed to do Inception as long as Nolan's follow-up would be TDKR.

What I meant was, Nolan had the idea and script for Inception for a long time and before TDK skyrocketed he couldn't get a studio to finance what it needed.

Which I didn't disagree with.

Nolan used Inception as his bargaining chip. If Inception got made, TDKR would be made.

That same thing kind of appeared with a Facebook page, and it was picked up by Mashable. I'm guessing it's all a fake, too, since it hasn't picked up any steam over here.

He did say he already knows what he's going to do with the next franchise which will be Superman, he has it all figured out apparently.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Josh Stewart (No Ordinary Family) is the newest cast member:

The official logo was revealed at a licensing expo and is the same logo as before but with a purple-tinted title. There aren't any good shots of it, just some 'hidden camera' types.

The mentioned shot can be seen here: http://batman-news.com/2011/06/14/th...national-expo/

According to recent news articles, Anne Hathaway is getting into the violence of her character so much she keeps literally tearing the ASS out of her costume! She's supposedly quite vicious!

Not sure if this had been said or not, but some sites were reporting they're shooting the scene where Bane breaks Batman's back this week. So, you know, I guess that's gonna be in there...

Nice. Josh Stewart was one of the better aspects of No Ordinary Family.
