Come on, you cannot even make the comparison with Catwoman one. It looks like some poorly mocked up pic a fanboy made. Hell, I've seen far better mock ups than this.

Which is what everyone was saying with the Joker one. I'm not saying the Catwoman one is legit, I'm just saying when no one had no idea what the Joker would look like, then have this picture as the first glimpse of where they were heading with it, it seemed like somneone was pulling our leg.

The Catwoman one looks photoshopped. IIRC, there was no debate as to whether or not the Joker pic was real.

I can't think of any debate except whether Ledger was going to work for it or not.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

The controversy over that photo was the makeup. People were digging the "Glasgow smile" for the most part, but many were unhappy with the reveal that The Joker was wearing makeup, not a victim of skin bleaching.

It really is a nice little time capsule on how web pages used to look 12 years ago.

The head looks like it's from the upcoming Arkham City video game and it's been photoshopped onto this body (the one on the right obviously).

Plus, this was the pic that was making the rounds way before Ledger was announced:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Harry Knowles' site hasn't broken a story in some time, and that was a pathetic attempt to reverse that trend. He sent emails to variants of "[email protected]" and eventually got response? Fake and contrived...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

this is problem not new news, but how many scenes are speculated to be shot in IMAX, I read somewhere that Warner's okay'd more money to accomodate for Nolan to shoot more scenes than he had in 'The Dark Knight'

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

So says this article. I'm definitely down for more IMAX - sans 3D of course.

Batman returns as 'Dark Knight Rises' begins principal production
By Dave Lewis - Christopher Nolan-directed sequel filming on three continents
"The Dark Knight Rises" is finally rising -- the sequel has started principal photography.

Production of the Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures film -- the final chapter of director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy -- is a global affair. The locations span three continents and include Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles, as well as sites in India, England and Scotland.

The previous film was primarily filmed on location in Chicago, while the first film, "Batman Begins," was mostly lensed in London, with some additional Chi-Town footage. Switching it up helps ensure that the fictional Gotham City will never simply look identical to one real-life city.

Christian Bale, hot off his Oscar-winning turn in "The Fighter" is reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Newcomers to the series include Anne Hathaway (as Selina Kyle/Catwoman), and a trio of alumni from Nolan's "Inception:" Tom Hardy (Bane) , Marion Cotillard (Miranda Tate) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (John Blake). It was also recently reported that Josh Pence is also joining the film...as a young Ra's al Ghul.

Among the returning cast members are Michael Caine as Bruce's trusted butler Alfred, Gary Oldman as newly-promoted Commissioner Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Wayne Enterprises exec Lucius Fox.

Like "The Dark Knight," Nolan is using IMAX cameras to shoot several key scenes, but promises to be using them more extensively this time around.

Nolan co-wrote the film with his brother Jonathan Nolan. It's being produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, and exec produced by Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull.

"The Dark Knight Rises" opens nationwide on July 20, 2012

Brett Cullen (LOST)

Christ Ellis (APOLLO 13)

are joining the cast.

Well, both were in APOLLO 13. Forgot about that.

TDKR costs $250 million...fucking huge budget. I'm sure a bit more of it is for IMAX...wonder how big this film really gets.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

It's budgeted at $250m, I think Nolan's last movie actually completed under budget.

inception's budget was at $185 million. if it went under i'm sure he was much popular at WB for that.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

The main question obviously is:

What do you think the budget for the sequel to the Dark Knight Rises will be?

With the secondary question of course being:

Can Nolan yet again come under budget for this even bigger budget?

WB would like him even more.......

Maybe I should start a new thread since this is Batman related, and important.

What is Nolan's history w/ Budget? I'm assuming he never goes over but on his previous films did he go under?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

I can't find anything concrete but per Batman on Film, the producers (Charles Roven and Emma Thomas) stated TDK came under budget and apparently Inception was $40 million under. Not sure why, could be that he runs a tight ship and gets filming done quicker, doesn't use as much CGI preferring to do things practical, etc.
