The fans want morphing Clayface in all his awesomeness. It doesn't work in Nolan film. You take that away...he's not Clayface.

Scarecrow and Ra's Al Guhl for the most part were themselves. Ra's had a bit more intrigue and mystery than expected but he hit the marks that make him...him in a way.

Just like if you take away Dick Grayson from under the domino mask, and its no longer Robin...

The fans only want morphing Clayface because that's the only version they know. It's like saying that Joker should have been a goofy clown with a painted over mustache, because that's the only version many fans knew.

If the fans were introduced to Preston Payne, I bet a lot of them would love it. He is a much better character than Matt Hagen ever was.

Joker was different though. You take away the clown..he's not the Joker. The mustache was irrelevant. It didn't make The Joker. It was the clown that makes the Joker.

Looking at Wikipedia, the original Clayface was nothing but an actor wearing the mask of his movie character and causing trouble. Sounds pretty boring.

I always thought that the Joker was the same. You take away the clown..he's still the Joker. The mustache was relevant. It made The Joker. It's NOT the clown that makes the Joker.

The irony is that Nolan's Joker wasn't much of a clown so much as guy with white make-up.

I liked him. The early 1940s Batman comics were heavily inspired by pulp crime noir fiction. The writing is pretty dated, but the actual stories themselves are still good. Then all that changed in the late 1940s/early 1950s when the novel Seduction of the Innocent was written that claimed comic books were corrupting the youth. Then the Batman comics went from a crime noir setting to a very goofy sci-fi setting. That resulted in the much goofier Clayface II with clay-morphing powers.

And had some humor involved w/ it. Let's not forget the heist, bits and pieces of subtle humor thoughout like the trailer. He was clown enough for me. He had enough humor and of a twisted nature to be a Joker I'd want.

I always liked Shadow of the Bat as a title. It was the name of a comic book series in the 1990s as well.

 I was just saying yesterday to someone that I thought they should have used Shadow of the Bat as this movie's title.

That would be fine as a title for a possible future Batman movie, but I don't see how it would relate to the storyline of the movie like Rises seems to.

I'd also have a bias on the voice. Ron Perlman was amazing as Clayface. He's too much for Nolan's "real" and desire to bring the fans the things they love but w/ his tweak on them.

What does that mean? In any case Clayface 1 seems already Nolanized in the comics but even more boring, Guy with knife? though looks cool, but like said it has to be Clayface 2..
.but going with industry politics maybe they wouldn't want another Sandman from Spiderman 3. Still though he was one of the freakiest things in the animated series And I'm bored of all the crime leaders, just wanted a lone wolf for once, just him against Batman.

I love the Nolan-Batman movies, but yeah, I definitely get a 24/Jack Bauer-vibe from them now and again.

For the most part. Though sometimes, just sometimes, I'd like to see cards interspersed that say "ZAP!" and "POW!". ;->

Speaking of which:

My neck already hurts thinking about seeing this in IMAX for that long. Damn. Still looking forward to it though.

Flawless? I have to tune some of this out now to avoid overhype. Or to quote The Wolf, "Let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet."

I absolutely was blown away by seeing TDK once in IMAX on opening day and not-so-blown away by seeing it in LieMAX during it's re-release in early 2009. That was a mistake.

I really don't like our IMAX theater here in Sacramento so I'm going to have to find one within a reasonable driving distance to go to opening weekend.

IDK about Rises, but The Dark Knight is a flawless film IMO.

The Dark Knight is a very good film, but it is not flawless.

A flawless film for me: Beverly Hills Cop.

Yeah, I can think of flawless films but even though The Dark Knight is in my Top 10 favorite films of all-time, it's not without its issues.

I'd consider Beverly Hills Cop "flawless" like bluetoast said. For me it'd also be Back to the Future and Ghostbusters.

Flawless? rotfl

A good, but not great film. I still don't understand the unconditional love this movie receives. There are huge problems with the the 3rd act and the mob stuff is cringeworthy.
