Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
The fans want morphing Clayface in all his awesomeness. It doesn't work in Nolan film. You take that away...he's not Clayface.
Scarecrow and Ra's Al Guhl for the most part were themselves. Ra's had a bit more intrigue and mystery than expected but he hit the marks that make him...him in a way. |

The fans only want morphing Clayface because that's the only version they know. It's like saying that Joker should have been a goofy clown with a painted over mustache, because that's the only version many fans knew. If the fans were introduced to Preston Payne, I bet a lot of them would love it. He is a much better character than Matt Hagen ever was. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Joker was different though. You take away the clown..he's not the Joker. The mustache was irrelevant. It didn't make The Joker. It was the clown that makes the Joker.
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Looking at Wikipedia, the original Clayface was nothing but an actor wearing the mask of his movie character and causing trouble. Sounds pretty boring.
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I always thought that the Joker was the same. You take away the clown..he's still the Joker. The mustache was relevant. It made The Joker. It's NOT the clown that makes the Joker.

The irony is that Nolan's Joker wasn't much of a clown so much as guy with white make-up.

I always liked Shadow of the Bat as a title. It was the name of a comic book series in the 1990s as well.

If you bring Clayface to life in a movie for the mainstream. You go w/ morphing Clayface. There's no other way. He is one character I'd love to see but again..he doesn't fit w/ Nolan. I'd also have a bias on the voice. Ron Perlman was amazing as Clayface. He's too much for Nolan's "real" and desire to bring the fans the things they love but w/ his tweak on them.
.but going with industry politics maybe they wouldn't want another Sandman from Spiderman 3. Still though he was one of the freakiest things in the animated series And I'm bored of all the crime leaders, just wanted a lone wolf for once, just him against Batman. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I love the Nolan-Batman movies, but yeah, I definitely get a 24/Jack Bauer-vibe from them now and again.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
That's a good thing, right?

For the most part. Though sometimes, just sometimes, I'd like to see cards interspersed that say "ZAP!" and "POW!". ;-> Speaking of which: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/iHufrsP9XMA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

My neck already hurts thinking about seeing this in IMAX for that long. Damn. Still looking forward to it though.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Flawless? I have to tune some of this out now to avoid overhype. Or to quote The Wolf, "Let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet."

I really don't like our IMAX theater here in Sacramento so I'm going to have to find one within a reasonable driving distance to go to opening weekend. |

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
The Dark Knight is a very good film, but it is not flawless.
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
A flawless film for me: Beverly Hills Cop.
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Yeah, I can think of flawless films but even though The Dark Knight is in my Top 10 favorite films of all-time, it's not without its issues.
I'd consider Beverly Hills Cop "flawless" like bluetoast said. For me it'd also be Back to the Future and Ghostbusters. |

A good, but not great film. I still don't understand the unconditional love this movie receives. There are huge problems with the the 3rd act and the mob stuff is cringeworthy. |
