The first one was really good and the sequels were fun but not as good as the first film. I'll probably still check this out when its out though. Maybe this will lead to the first three films on Blu-ray.

3 was definitely a letdown but I'm hoping that with 11 years passed they have something fresh in store.
I'm seriously surprised the Weinsteins never ran this franchise into the ground, considering what they did with The Crow, Hellraiser, Mimic, and so on. It would have been very easy to sell it out for crappy DVD sequels without the stars (a la American Pie) but they showed surprising restraint. Unless it was some contractual thing that Williamson made them agree to...

Seriously can we please stop with the fucking putting 4's instead of A's and 3's instead of B's? It's really juvenile and stupid looking.

Yeah, I'd rather have the numeral in there than some tag on the end or go with the trend like The Scream, lol.

I just read the Craven interview.
I really hope all three get made.
And, should Scream 4 become a hit, you are signed on for Scream 5 and 6, right?
Yeah, I’m signed on for the duration.

No the number is fine, i get that. It's using the number as a replace all for certain letters in the name of the move. Why couldn't they just call it Scream 4 instead of Scre4m. That just looks stupid

Was Se7en the first movie to popularize the ridiculous numbers replacing letters trend?
As for this film itself, I'm so glad that Williamson is back. He's participation is crucial, in my opinion. I also hope Marco Beltrami returns.

This. But, hey, at least it's wearing its sequel love on its sleeve. I'm half surprised they didn't try to completely reboot and give us a new mask with "hot young actors" filling in the known roles.

actually the 4 instead an A fits with the whole "joking on sequels" thing that the series is all about.

What is your opinion of where the horror genre has gone these past 10 years?
It feels like the end of an era of a certain type of film. There are series of films, a lot of sequels, and a lot of remakes, and part of the humor of Scream 4 is when characters comment on that. “Enough of Saw 25 and all!” [Laughs] A lot of films, directors, and studios are the butts of some of the jokes. In order to figure out what’s happening around them, the characters have to figure out where the genre of horror is. So this is a look at horror after 10 years of a lot of sequels rather than original films coming up year after year. One film is successful, and then they make 25 of them. I think it’s time for something new. I’ve done remakes of my own films, too, with The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes, but we feel it’s time for something new and different, and that’s what this film is going to be.
But then is it ironic that this is the fourth film in a series?
Yeah, but I’ve never felt like these are sequels. This is a film about the progress of, at this point, three core characters, and how all of these events have changed their lives, and how the events in their lives have been reflected in the movies around them, which they might like or might really not like at all. I think that makes it really different.

I think the teaser poster is alright but agree the placing of the 4 is lazy and typical. I thought the SCREAM 3 teaser poster however was pretty awesome. Really looking forward to this movie!

Count me in too. I've always been a huge fan of the original trilogy and can't wait to see what Craven and Williamson have in store for the next.

I have to believe that this movie will be a sort of "re-invention" of what happened in the first film by a new antagonist(s). This will be the satirical part of the movie which the series is known for but also continue the storyline of the main characters. I guess we will have to see what they have in store for us.
