No mention was ever made that Syd has any Brothers or Sisters in any of the films...well, aside from that one from Scream 3 who tried to kill her. Not, I have not seen the film, but is it possible she is his Daughter? I guess I'll just not read this thread until after I see the film so I don't get spoiled.

It's her cousin.

I thought it was hands down the best sequel out of all of them.

And if you think I'm wrong, make sure you give them all a re-watch before you head to the theater. Time has not been so kind to even our beloved Scream 2.

I think you're wrong as I just revisited the entire trilogy on Blu-ray a few months ago when the Canadian set came out.

Scream and Scream 2 are still as rock solid as they were in the 90s and I'd still rather witness an abortion being preformed than watch Scream 3 again.

Well, if he was too busy with "Vampire Diaries" to focus on Scream 4, it makes sense that later, while he was focused on "VD" and launching a second show (at least, I believe he has two shows now, doesn't he?) that he wouldn't have time to be in a documentary.

I mean, if there really was bad blood here, why would he even agree to be interviewed in EW? Why talk about the movie at all?

Here's how I think the movie should have ended in order to provide room for an actual reboot...

Spoiler:
Ghostface traps Sydney and her cousin Jill. He reveals his identity and then tells Jill that he staged everything for her. Charlie recounts how Jill told him that she wished she were Sidney (attention, excitement, etc.). Charlie presents an ultimatum to Jill: kill Sidney or die.

Shockingly, Jill gives in and shoots Sidney. Charlie hugs Jill, but Jill shoots him, too, killing him. Jill calls 911, holds Sidney, and tells her how sorry she is. Sadly, Sidney dies. When questioned by police, Jill lies and says that Charlie killed Sidney.

Fast-forward a year or two for a 5 minute segment: Jill is in college, and she appears to be doing pretty well, at least on the surface, although some serious issues clearly linger. (This is similar to Sidney's situation in Scream 2, of course.) Jill's boyfriend is murdered by who else...Ghostface. When Jill is questioned by police officers, they reveal that a cryptic note was attached to her boyfriend's body (similar to I Know What You Did Last Summer). The note might say something like, "Et Tu, Jill?" Jill lies and says she doesn't know what the note means, and Scream 4 ends.

In Scream 5, Ghostface threatens to continue killing until Jill announces the truth: that she, in fact, killed Sidney. Eventually, Jill does just that. Everyone is shocked, and people begin to act as if she is to blame for the current killing spree. At that point, Ghostface then targets Jill alone.

WTF, this isn't SAW. And to quickly decide to murder someone close to you is just retarded.

I'm curious as to how a movie that was tracking to open with $40+ million is only going to open with $19 mil. Are tracking #s that inaccurate a predictor?

I'm hoping that the teacher that had his class interrupted by those nimrods in his classroom turns out to be the killer in the next one. Why can't we just have someone snap and take it out on those that have driven them to the edge while using the Ghostface costume? I really don't think we need much more of Sidney in the next one as I think her story has come full circle.

As for the spoiler talk, I've made it a personal rule to stay completely out of threads for movies I want to see as they near release date. You never know what someone could spoil.

I saw the movie tonight, and was a little disappointed in the 'killer reveal', but overall I was entertained. Not much in the way of 'scaring' though.

Agreed. I avoided this thread like the plague, because I didn't want to run the chance of having anything spoiled.

Was anyone really expecting scary? It's just a slasher movie.

I liked Scream 4, but here's my biggest problem with the "reveal" of the killer:

Spoiler:
The actor(s) we find out "did the deed" are both very much shorter than the Ghostface we've seen during the rest of the film. Significantly so...meaning Ghostface would have had to have worn foot-high lifts during his killings to actually have been those people. I know it is a movie, but I elimiated characters while I was watching because of their height. So this movie "cheats" in a cinematic way that the previous three Scream flicks did not.

re: Scream 4 (Craven, 2011) - script by Williamson

The film starts of with a lot of meta-scenes about the Scream genre, using a fabricated slasher movie franchise "Stab" and its multitude of sequels to comment on cinematically going back to the well far too many times. Then it settles into the main story of having Scream survivor Sydney Prescott returning to her hometown for a book signing, and the Ghostface killings start all over again, along with the creepy phone calls and attacks on the victims.

I was actually pretty surprised by all the actresses in the opening meta-scenes. The onscreen pairing on Courtney Cox and David Arquette was a little on the awkward side. Neve Campbell reprises her role as Sydney. Alison Brie's PR agent character cracked me up for her desire to use the return of Ghostface to garner more book sales for Sydney. The script litters the film with red herring characters who could possibly be Ghostface.

The final act was actually pretty silly and nutty, and they could have even strung it out by a few more minutes to wring even more menace out of the scenes.

I give it 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.

Courtney Cox looked a little plastic in this movie.

She did. If I didn't see her in Cougar Town, I would say she had some major work done (she's never looked so bad on Cougar Town).

Overall, good film. Better then the second or third film.

What about the ending? Was it still effective even though you knew part of it?

No, not really. Since I knew who the killer was, I was able to (sadly) figure it out because that person was not around when things happened. Ruined. But that's what I get for clicking on something that was worded like a guess.

And I have to agree with a poster above, why was Ghostface like 6+ feet tall?

And has no facial damage when the killer shows up without the mask.

The mask provides some cushion and it's not like they're beating kicked/punched repeatedly. At most, they would have a bloody nose.

Sending out some random tweets to people I don't know, and I convinced some girl to go see Scream 4. She tweeted me from the line to buy tickets. Feels good, man.

And now I examine this other girls profile that is tweeting me, and I see she is a former transexual porn star. Oh lawd. Off to check her/his website....

He/she even has a wikipedia page lmao

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_Shore
She also filmed her first DVD Transsexual Babysitters 8 in 2008. That DVD won "Best Transsexual DVD" that same year.
