This looks absolutely horrible. Do we really need another sequel to this franchise. Wouldn't it make more sense to just do a remake of the original for this new Justin Bieber demographic than to make a sequel for a demo that's most likely matured from watching this kind of movie?

I must be in the minority. Lot of people don't seem to care much for Scream 3, even preferring Scream 2. I think 2 has its share of good parts, mostly involving Randy, but feels overall like a weak retread of the first film, like the production was rushed to capitalize on that success. To me, 3 has always been a step back up.

Part 3 had Jay and Silent Bob in it. That to me makes it superior!

I think only the first three are listed alphabetically, I'm sure the "big 3" agreed to the alphabetical thing and then the second tier had their own billing negotiation.

If one of the new castmembers had an "A" name I doubt they would have interrupted the billing of the three castmembers from the previous films. It's just a coincidence that they happen to be the first 3 alphabetically as well.

Look at the multistory house shown at 48 seconds into the second Scream 4 trailer. Is anyone else reminded of the iconic Wallace house in the original Halloween? It's the one Laurie Strode can see when she looks out the window from Tommy Doyle's living room.

The look of the house in Scream 4 and the angle at which it's photographed makes me wonder if Craven was intending it to be an homage to the Wallace home in Halloween.

It's probably deceptive editing, the trailers for Scream 3 made it look like Dewey was a goner, when in fact the knife handle just hits him in the head.
They want people to say "They can't kill her off!"

I have no idea if she really dies in the movie or not, has that been spoiled or is it just speculation based off the trailer?

speculation off the trailer I believe.

I also thought Scream 3 was a complete bore, at least Scream 2 had fun with the concept.

1. Scream 2
2. Scream

...

3. Scream 3

I prefer Scream 2 over Scream just as its a lot more fun and plays around with the horror sequel concept. However, I still think of the original as a modern slasher classic.

Scream 3 is just awful. A boring plot, lazy directing and the main actors just showing up to collect a paycheck. It also doesn't help that its toned-down in terms of gore and violence due to the country's (then) reaction of the Columbine incident. The entire picture is a joke, becoming a movie that the first two films were making fun of.

I hope with the return of Williamson that Scream 4 can live up to the magic that Scream and its first sequel contained. However, with Craven's last few outings, I'm expecting the worst.

I remember after seeing it in theaters thinking the same thing.

That trailer gives away way too much as to who will die.

Maybe; but it does not make it look like a good movie either.

My hope is

Spoiler:
they kill off most of the original survivors by the third act and let the new characters take over. An important point to realize is that unlike the past, Ghost Face has no real connection to the survivors of the trilogy, so they are little more than people in the way.

What if Deputy Dewey is the killer or one of them?

A bit early to say that, no? One of the killers in Scream 2 had a VERY personal connection to a character in the first film, despite not being mentioned or at least introduced until the sequel. I wouldn't put lazy writing past this franchise...

Nope.

I expect lazy writing here too. Sydney's long lost half-sister/brother/cousin/something.

Mickey, Timothy Olyphant's character, wanted to be a copycat killer immortalized in the media = good writing.

Mrs. Loomis, Laurie Metcalf's character, was Billy's mother = lazy writing.

In Scream 3, Roman, played by who gives a fuck, was Sidney's step-brother = piss-poor writing.

In Scream 4, Wes Craven will cameo as the killer.

Neve Campbell will then shoot him.....for real.

I forgot about Billy's mom having to do with the killings in 2. I remember the step-brother in 3 but forgot about the 2nd one's other killer. They should have left it at Olyphant being the only killer and completely wiped away the character of Billy's mother. What are your guesses for 4? I'm guessing that Dewey has something to do with the killings in this one.
