I saw it over the weekend and really enjoyed it. Granted I wasn't expecting much but it was fun.
It got a bit choppy towards the end jumping to different locations and such and the hacker girl seemed to just disappear but I do recommend it. The only thing I didnt really care for was the mini transformer thingy that was on Air force one and that turned into a cell phone. Reminded me of Stripe from Gremlins. I was quite surprised that parents were bringing little children under the age of 5 into the theater. This movie shows people being destroyed and not in a comic book sort of way but then again I guess that is ok these days. Funny how you seen tons of reviews from angry parents for a movie like Bridge to Tarabithia where there is a death but it is excepted to be killed violently. |

I saw it last week. Thought it was ok, nothing special.

Yes, there is plenty of carnage of the film, but I was surprised at how much of it was implied or took place in the background (like people getting squashed under fallen robots in the final battle). I can't recall anything even remotely graphic. A 4-year old's eye is going to be trained on the cool robots in the foreground for the entire film, not trying to catch the details in the background. Louder and more frenetic, yes, but I didn't think it was any worse that FF: ROTSS or TMNT, which I also took my boy to. |

I went to see Terminator 2 when I was like 8 years old, and save for a stint where I ran around naked, shooting people, it left a minimal mark, hell I didn't even remember most of the movie until I saw it again a few years ago. |

So even though all the examples they showed were bad guys doing bad deeds. Voltron and the Autobots were there to fight evil but they totally skipped over that. The Eagles Nest? Wasn't that Hitlers castle?
|
So, if evil robots invade us killing them is bad?
Sadly I didn't need to watch more than 10 seconds of that to know it was a religious show...whoops, I just spoiled the last 20 seconds of the video. And, I'm pretty sure that the Eagles Nest wasn't Hitlers castle, but it was the name of one of Hitlers mountaintop sanctuaries. |
By the way did anybody catch the one dude saying that from he had seen Transfomers did not have any "occult" stuff in it but then after the clip was shown the other guy said that there were obvious occultic overtones in it? Plus some Transformers were shown getting shot but none of them were shown to be obviously dead. Couple of morons.

Not to mention that the first two Transformers you see get shot are Orion Pax and Ariel. In that very episode it's revealed that Alpha Trion saves their lives by rebuilding them as Optimus Prime and Elita 1. Clearly, neither robot died. Also, everyone seemed to be getting hit on the side of the chest. That's a simple cartoon technique to show someone injured but not mortally wounded. (Of course G.I. Joe: The Movie would have changed that had a certain character's death not been changed to a coma at the last minute.) |

Transformers continues to rake in the money, proving what a fun, popular film it is with audiences across the nation.
US total: $262.9+ million foreign: $190.6+ million total: $453.6+ million The film still hasn't opened in the UK or Japan markets. It's well on its way to passing the $300 million mark here. Excellent news! |
speaking of transformers 2 (is there any official word on it yet? are they making part II?) did anyone see the usa today poll today about what transformer they want to see most in the sequel?
http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/...sformers_N.htm for me i would go with devastator out of those choices. |

Loved it!
Even though this film suffered from some bad acting, the usual Michael Bay clichés, a character that was the robotic equivalent of Jar Jar Binks, too much comic relief, etc... it just doesn't matter because it was fuckin' phenomenal! I literally had goose pimples throughout the film as childhood memories came to life on the screen! And yes, I'm not in the least bit ashamed to say that I teared up a little at the sight of Optimus Prime! |
This is a reviews thread, so I'm not threadcrapping when I say: I saw the film yesterday, and it is terrible. The Starship Troopers and Men in Black could have been cut out entirely and not missed. The racial stereotyping was disgusting. The product placement offensive. Did HP pay for placement in the first hour, and Apple in the second? Who could forget the memorable XBox and Mountain Dew robots? Why is Bumblebee a Camaro and not a VW? I'll give you one guess.
The filmmakers insulted my intelligence at every turn, and made no effort for a non-fan to enjoy the film. Why bother with science, if logic is thrown out the window? There isn't nearly enough material in any of those vehicles to create these robots, and why, if the organism inhabits the technology of the era, is Megatron a fighter jet, and not a steam engine or tall ship? And if he was trapped in the ice and discovered there (wasn't really clear on this), why isn't he bronze, iron, or stone? Why does Optimus Prime change height based on situation? I liked LeBouf in general, and enjoyed the one scene where he sees the Bumblebee robot for the first time. There was a Close Encounters/E.T. sense of wonder there, but by that time, the audience knows exactly what's going on, so there's no sense of disorientation. I also liked that Bumblebee had to "talk" using the available technology. I also thought that the kid from Elephant was charming. I imagine that if there was no nostalgia attached to the brand, nobody would like this movie. cheers, -the Jesus |

Nevertheless, since someone brought it up, my Jetfire/Skyfire toy was stolen when I was a kid and I highly suggest looking into the 1/48 Yamato toyline if you are looking to collect something even better than you will find in the States. |
OK I finally got to see this last night.
Wow, what a disappointment. First, they could have easily cut 30-40 minutes. Way too much "human" stuff, and the "Bay-ism" typical shots where grating after a while. Turturro's character was a total joke, and not a good one. There was one point where they were cutting between Turturro and two other characters, and I sweat I thought they were in two different movies - that's how bad the script and editing were. I really thought this was going to be a cool sci-fi/action flick, but it was just a goofy overlong movie with some decent Transformer action in it. And just to clarify - I was a HUGE Transformers fan when I was young. I just wish the movie would have been about the Transformers and not the idiot humans. 1.5 stars out of 4. |
