Didn't Ratchet shoot a laser at Bumblebee to heal his voice? Perhaps it just took time for it to heal fully.

Yes he did. He also said he was still working on it.

Can't wait to see the film again and watch for that.

Yes, I'm glad that was confirmed about Starscream. With things going so fast in this film, I'm sure there are little details everyone will pick up on second and third viewings.

RocShemp,

wikipedia mentions the sequence with Barricade on the highway. I'm sure it's on film. I hope it surfaces as at least a deleted scene.

hmmm.... that could be true... but i hope something is cleared up then

I would assume that Sector 7 would actually be restructured as a coordinated effort between the Autobots and military in case there were another Decepticon invasion. Maybe leading to the creating of a Teletran 1 for the Sector 7 team to communicate and coordinate remotely with the Autobots and better scan for any Cybertronians entering Earth's atmosphere in order to seek them out and determine whether they might be Decepticons.

Key roles could be given to Keller as director, Simmons and Banachek as Keller's direct subordinates, Lennox and Epps (and their surviving team members) as military support, Maggie and Glen as tech support, and (unofficially) Sam and Mikaela as liaisons to the Autobots.

Spoiler:
I felt the same way. I was thinking that since S7 changed their hearts and worked with The Autobots, Soldiers, and "kids" it would be cool if the Goverment tells them to change into a support organization for the Autobots. They could trade technology, give the Transformers a base of operations, and help in other ways. Isn't that the theme in most of the different TF series?

Maybe they can work in the character of Chip Chase ;)

RocShemp 07-09-07 08:47 AM

I think Maggie and Glen are the movie universe version of Chip Chase. Much like Mikaela is the movie universe version of Carly.

Or they could add Billy Bob Thorton to the cast as Chip Chase as a further nod to Armageddon. ;)

RocShemp 07-09-07 08:51 AM

If they do add Chip Chase, however, I can't wait to see them download Prime's entire mind into an SD card.

I think only older G1 fans will get what I'm referencing.

The "tooth fairy" Autobot (the one that lands in the pool) is definitely Optimus Prime. Although it cuts to Ironhide taking on his vehicle mode immediately after the Autobot hides behind the tree, it's definitely Optimus Prime. That's why there's an angelic chorus of sorts that is heard as he rises from the pool. Look at his head and you'll see it's almost identical to that of Earth form Prime. Also, look carefully at his design and you'll see it matches exactly the Protoform that scans the Peterbilt.

Cool beans. I wish it was slightly clearer, editing-wise, since myself and all my friends thought it was Iron Hide, but it's much more fitting with the choral music if it's Optimus. Now that I think about it, When he ducks behind the trees, he does look a little too big to be Iron Hide.

Man, you guys are BASTARDS. I finally just boxed up almost all of my old G1ers to put up on ebay (all complete with boxes, specs and instructions :eyebrow: ) and accepted my newfound (and much delayed) adulthood and you guys go and post pictures of those two masterpieces? *sigh* Back to making room on the bookshelf...

Seriously, it's the subtle touches like that and BumbleBee's complete look of shock at taking down Brawl that make me love this flick even more. And if Starscream led the charge, that means HE'S the one that busted open Megatron's chest allowing Sam to shove the Allspark in there. He's going to have some 'splainin' to do when Meggy comes back.

I'm surprised that BB figure is $100! It must be top quality, and I hope metal.

I'll have to look into finally picking up one of those 20th figures.

Bandit03 07-09-07 09:10 AM

I loved this movie to begin with, but now reading about Starscream makes me appreciate the movie even more. Now I definately have to see it again!

RocShemp 07-09-07 09:11 AM

I'm suprised there isn't an Ultimate Optimus Prime or Ultimate Megatron to go along with that figure.

It must be a bitch to transform. The first time I transformed my Leade Class Optimus Prime figure, it took me almost an hour (with instructions)!

RocShemp 07-09-07 09:15 AM

These are the specs for the Ultimate Bumblebee figure:

The TRANSFORMERS Movie hero “comes to life” at the push of a button!

This amazing and ultra-detailed robot figure features an animated head, wings and arms

His cannon automatically “aims” and fires a missile!

Convert this awesome machine in to Camaro concept vehicle mode with battle and conversion sounds!

Groove to nine different songs, featuring “Whip It” by Devo!

fujishig 07-09-07 11:25 AM

Yeah, the Bumblebee figure is expensive because of the size and the electronics involved. There's a vid on youtube somewhere that shows a video of a guy tranforming it (I think it's in Japanese) and a bunch of pieces need to be removed, reattached. It's not currently out yet that I know of.

The leader-class (expensive) Megatron is much less rare than he was when the toys first came out (I checked right before the movie came out and saw several) but post-movie release these things are flying off the shelves. There are smaller ($20) versions coming out of both Optimus and Megatron in the next wave of figures... the smaller Optimus was actually released as a recolor as a Target exclusive, though good luck finding that now.

I have to give Hasbro a lot of credit for designing these toys. They took the movie Transformers, which are obviously not meant to transform in a traditional sense, and made pretty decent toy analogs... ironic, considering the original cartoon had to do the opposite. The leader class Optimus, for example, is a great toy, even if he isn't entirely movie-accurate. I am a little surprised (though not that disappointed) they didn't at least use the Gi-joe or star wars molds to make the human characters, considering they were pretty much the heroes of the movie.

Doc MacGyver 07-09-07 11:55 AM

I'm not that familiar with GI-Joes (that was my brother's thing), but I've read in a couple different places that Lennox was a G.I. Joe character that was featured prominantly in the crossover comic series. Could anyone help me out? What was his "Joe" name (snake eyes, beachhead, roadblock, etc.)?

After a day of letting the film sink in, I love it much more. There is a nearby DLP theater here, so I'm going to plan a second viewing for that. I hope I catch the Starscream-led attack. If I can spot it, I'll probably bust out laughing because that is truly a cowardly, typical Starscream-esque move. He's definitely my favorite from the film, although Prime and to my surprise, Bumblebee, were handled extremely well. I thought Barricade was great too. He got quite a bit of screen time.

Transformers #24, right? The old Marvel series, much superior to the cartoon I might add.

I've seen this four times already. This is one of the few movies I've seen that I want to see again and again and not get bored watching it.

I believe that's the issue. Also, if I recal correctly, there was an episode of the series where Chip downloaded Prime's mind into a 5 inch floppy.

Yeah, but it was Double-Sided, Double-Density...

RocShemp 07-09-07 02:40 PM

Any word as to whether Steve Jablonsky's score will get released? The more I watch the movie, the more I dig the score. Yes, the military theme is derivative of previous Bay film scores but it's a lot of fun. And my favourite theme is the eerie Decepticon theme. I also can't get out of my head the Autobot's arrival theme. It's a shame they've thus far only release a crappy album and not the score.

I know you're kidding but I'll play along.

That still makes Prime borderline retarded. ;)

I had a hard time following the action in the fight scenes involving just the TFs. I missed the whole Starscream firing on Megatron. Didn't know until I saw it here.

IMO, Prime, Bumblebee, Barricade and Frenzy were the only TFs to get anything resembling development. Sure, Ratchet, Ironhide and Jazz had some lines, but not much, or enough to get to "know" them.

There might have been more Decepticons, but they fared far worse in this area. Brawl got nothing, as I remember. Bonecrusher just had his big bus crash scene, and that was it. I don't feel we got much from Starscream. And Megatron didn't appear until the end.

IIRC, Bumblebee can speak, but he usually doesn't because it's painful. If that's true, that makes his effort to speak at the end more meaningful.

In the toys, one of the scout class exclusives at Target is given credit for damaging BB's vocals. It's a repainted dune buggy bot from an earlier line.

Adulthood is overrated. I've got some 130 or so TF figs, and that's nothing in many circles. I won't give 'em up. Heck, I got 'em all in my "adulthood." Being an adult means you can do what you want. I don't have any of the TFs I had when I was a kid.

My stepmom had a bit of a "reaction" upon a visit to my apt and seeing my TFs. I just reminded her that her own home is equally full of various bunnies that she collects. She collects bunnies, I collect TFs.

Oh, and if it keeps with TF style, when Meggy comes back, he'll be Galvatron. ;)
