I don't know why people are walking around with a stiffy for Routh. He was decent in the role but it was hardly a standout performance. This had more to do with the material than his abilities, but nonetheless the end result didn't exactly lend one to believe that he was in any way superlative.
I liked him in the role, I just wish Singer and Co. had decided to give him any memorable lines. They barely let him speak at all.
And remember: just because Zod is the "villain" doesn't mean that there aren't other characters / "villains" in the movie. Zod = Krypton, ergo we could have Brainiac or even Doomsday as well. Possibly even gro

At this rate, the other "villain" will just be Lex.

I was hoping Aronofsky was going to get the nod to direct the next Superman film.
For those who have seen "The Social Network", would Armie Hammer (played the Winklevoss twins) make a suitable candidate to don the red cape? He's 6'5" talle, with a solid build (packing on the muscles shouldn't be a problem), dye his hair black, with a square jaw, he's got the look of the classical hero.
I just don't know if he could also play the gentle, charming, vulnerable side of Superman (Christopher Reeve was rather good in his portrayal during his first rooftop interview with Lois in the first Superman film).

With Nolan's input in this, i'm not sure how people can think Snyder is a bad choice. Obviously they picked him for a reason and if Nolan is intent on doing this right, he wouldn't make a bad decision for the director.

I love how 3 years and 1500+ posts later, the original subject header has been proven utterly false. But then again, this whole thread was created based on an IESB bullshit rumor (which is all they ever "reported", really).
Like when they INSISTED that an entirely CG-animated JLA movie was already in pre-production...

EW gives Armie Hammer 4-1 odds he'll be considered.

While I could definitely see him as right for the role, his name sounds like that of a porn star to me.

So a guy who, by being cast as Batman, was one of the reasons why the George Miller JLA movie was scrapped is going to get the role as Superman?

Well...no matter what that JLA movie wasn't going to work at that time. Maybe much later down the line but not back in that time and not soon either.

Well because IMHO, there's no one right now that looks more like superman and clark kent who's of the right age to pull the role off. Maybe matt bomer but he's got some crazy eyes going on sometimes. And even though while watching the town, i kept thinking john hamm could pull it off too, even he thinks he's a little old.

Snyder's visual flair and strong command of action scenes tempered with Nolan's emphasis on story and character could result in something really special. I'm pretty optimistic and I even have new pants.
