I disagree with the joker having to be funny. B/c he isn't funny, he is sadistic & his humor is not ha ha funny, it is a dark perverse psychosis. |
I enjoyed this so much, perhaps waiting a year for bat begins, knowing the people behind it would deliver, and it did, such a great movie experience, Christian Bale and Liam Nielson, fantastic chemistry!!!

john leguizano or david spade for joker

Jude Law
Someone did a fan art picture of Christian Bale before he was batman, and they did one of Jude Law as the joker, he wouldn't be a bad choice. |
Well, I saw it this afternoon, the theater was actually nearly empty but a few people came in as soon the trailers were showing. I really did like this movie, I think it's the best modern Batman movie. Everything in the movie was great - especially the acting, sound, and special effects, but I felt that the movie was still too long.

Tim Roth=Joker!

I went in not expecting much from this movie. I just don’t expect much from comic book movies anymore. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy them, but I aim low so that way I’m not disappointed. Take Constantine for example. I had a good time with it. Same with Elektra, Punisher, and Daredevil. Went into SM2 with high hopes, and although I know its sacrilege, I didn’t like it. I thought it was boring and not a very good movie. So aimed low here, but this was a fanfuckingtastic movie. It really has restored my faith in the comic genre and I'm finally convinced it can be done right. This might have been one of the best cast movies I’ve ever seen, and Bale really nailed it. I always thought Keaton was a good Batman, but average Wayne and Kilmer did a good Wayne but awful Batman, and well we won’t even talk about Clooney. But Bale really was both. I didn’t even mind the voice after the first time. Definitely 2 thumbs up from me  .

Anyone see any young kids at this movie? I have a 4, 7 and 10 year old that really want to see this. We took them to Star Wars and they don't appear to have any mental scars from the severed limbs scenes. What do you guys think, good or bad for kids?
|
There was quite a few young kids at the 2:30 pm showing I went to. I couldn't really gauge their reactions though, as they weren't very vocal, all I know is they were disgusted by the scene where Rachel kisses Bruce. What's funny is so was I but for different reasons.
Just kidding I didn't think Katie Holmes was that bad, she was just kind of there. Oh I guess they did seem a bit jumpy towards the end. Spoiler:

He was a prison snitch that had info on that mob.

Just got back too.
As already stated, BEST COMIC BOOK MOVIE EVER, period! Forget X2 forget Sin City and forget Spidy 2, Batman Begins was sick! This film was amazing. From beginning to end, absolute perfection, casting, production, direction, performances, off the fucking hook!!! There was soooo much I loved I don't know where to begin. Loved the end too. I will support this film 1000% and will tell everybody to see it!!!! Great job WB!! My only issue with the movie was the WEAK ASS TRAILERS!!! Come on, STEALTH??? The only good one I saw was Serenity! |
It was pretty good, but I still think X2 and Spider-man 2 were better. This movie had too many of the cliched "someone repeats something a character said to him/her earlier" lines. Also, I thought the car chase ran a little long and wasn't that good. Everything else was done pretty well, though. As much as I'd like to see Hamill in the role, Glover certainly does look the part for Joker.

Just came back.... Wow, just wow.
I didn't expect much (despite all the glowing reviews), but this movie is so good I am still shocked :) The good stuff: -In depth explanation of how Bruce became Batman (training, motive, his own insecurity, fear, etc) -Morgan Freeman is always a screen presence, this one is no different. -Michael Caine is the perfect Alfred. I only found one silly thing with his role (when he took out one of the bad guys with a golf club), but overall, he is funny, yet sensitive, and optimistic. The perfect foible to the dark/moody character of Batman. -Katie Holmes character didn't turn into a typical love interest. She is a strong character but doesn't hog up the screen just because she is pretty. -Liam Neeson is such a badass in this movie, that's what Qui Gon should have been (in terms of being strong, resolute and philsophical without being overly pedantic). I like the twist too, I didn't see it coming. -Love the little touches that meant something, like how Bale speaks differently when he is Batman, vs Bruce. -Batman torturing the bad guys. Classic stuff. -The ending with preview of the next villain (as if you don't already know! :) The Bad - Fight scenes are chaotic (probably on purpose but still), almost as bad as Bourne Supremacy where I can't see what the hell is going on except someone is going down but I have no clue who is who. - Too cute by repeating what was said by another character/earlier in the movie. I found 2 that fits ("Did you get the memo" and "I am defined by what I do blah blah blah"), the others just get overboard and too convenient. Overall, an awesome awesome comic book movie adaptation that I feel will get better with each viewing. Better than Spiderman 1&2 for sure, maybe even better than X-men (but I will decide a few years down the road!) |
I wonder if we will ever get to see Robin in a future installment? I thought there might be some foreshadowing with that one boy in there. It would be interesting to see if they could pull it off without bringing the campy. I think having them do "Death in the Family" would be the best Batman/Robin movie if they could go in that direction.

Caught it on IMAX tonight, and enjoyed it quite a bit. I do agree with some of the complaints mentioned... I think there really should have been emotion tied to the death of Bruce's parents. That entire scene seemed rather abrupt. Maybe it was just the child actor.
I was dissapointed in the fight sequences. Regardless of what kind of style they were in, it felt like they were a mess with cuts that were far too quick and too difficult to make out. Other then that, I loved the plot, and had no problems with the evaporater. Cillian did a great job as Scarecrow, and i thought they did a good job explaining his "gimmick." I'm also glad that they didn't just kill him off. Bale and Caine had wonderful interaction, with some great humor thrown in as well. |
As far as I have read in articles, they aren't going to kill off the villians. The director thinks that was a mistake made in the 89 version, so I wouldn't expect to see any villians killed off.

i loved this movie. really really impressed. and i loved the fight scenes/chase scene. The production design was so phenominal, I was pulled right into gotham. When the tumbler drove around rooftops the entire theater was rumbling. it was friggin awesome.
maybe that was the earthquake though... |
excellent movie
i'm curious to see tim burton's reaction to the film, if and when he sees it; although i think it's apples and oranges, i still think burton made an amazing film in 1989, although this film stands up to that and is arguably better as well. hard to say; both have a special place for me. anyways, back to the point, i think it'd be really cool to hear a reaction or comment from burton; or also, maybe hear what chris nolan thought of the original. |
