Although I'd prefer they leave it just the way it is, I hope any changes done to Tumbler are as subtle as possible.

We can only hope.

I'd like to see the Tumbler updated in the next film so long as it retains the "real world" functionality.

llars 07-23-06 01:22 AM

Has there been any news on the next movie?

Supermallet 07-23-06 01:26 AM

Check out the Heath Ledger as The Joker thread for info on the sequel.

Mondo Kane 07-23-06 02:48 AM

Whoa. Weird thread bump.

Because I just so happened to re-watch the movie today for the first time since it's summer theatrical release and I definetly enjoyed it more the 2nd time. Watching it with Subtitles helped a great deal since I missed so much of the complexity of it on first viewing, and the way Nolan didn't hold onto "obvious" shots on many sequences was a nice welcome (Though that could have been thanks to the editor)
But it still doesn't the capture the wonder that I have with the Burton '89 film. Still though, Batman Begins has now become my 2nd favorite Batman film above Mask of the Phantasm.

Again, even though I never gave a good in-depth review of why I disliked it the first time in this thread. It's obvious that the high expectations I had the first time have now vanished and I now looked at the movie at an entirely different light and felt more fulfilled.

I just rewatched Batman '89, actually, and for me the sense of wonder is completely gone. It just feels so artificial in comparison to Batman Begins. I still love Batman Returns, though.

Same here. I know I'm alone here but I never liked Keaton as Bat/Bruce and I like him even less after Begins.

Supermallet 07-23-06 05:21 AM

Actually, Keaton wasn't so bad. What gets me is the set design and the character motivations. Bruce Wayne is so aloof in the film that he feels more intimate as Batman. And while the set design is really cool, it never feels like anything but a set. The film is still fun, but Begins set the bar so high that Batman '89 really can't reach it anymore.

Just got through it again, as well. I never realized the strange fact that Knox, although a Gotham reporter, had no idea who Bruce Wayne was. I think the movie has it's place, but all I wanted to do was put in "Batman Begins" instead because of the depth of the character and the playboy nature of Bruce Wayne...not to mention the increased role of Jim Gordon as the commissioner...and the more involved relationship with Alfred. However, I really did enjoy Jack Nicholson's turn as the Joker during this last viewing.

I don't want to search thru this 30 page thread to find my answer so if it has been mentioned, please forgive me.

My local IMAX is carrying Batman Begins later this month thru October. I am planning on seeing it there but was just curious if anyone else has seen the IMAX version and get their impressions of it. I did not know that it had ever run on IMAX.

I saw BB on IMAX, and the main thing I remember was noticing how frikkin' big that lesion/wart that's next to Bale's right eye and the bridge of his nose.

Maxflier 09-12-06 02:41 PM

While I didn't see it on IMAX, I was also distracted by the growth on his nose. With the kind of money he must have, why wouldn't he get that damn thing removed?

matrixrok9 09-12-06 02:50 PM

Loved the movie but a question about the final battle:

Why did Batman let Gordon drive the Batmobile? Couldn't Batman just shoot the rails using the Batmobile himself and not fight Rha's Al Ghul?

1. He was doubling his chances of success.

2. He forced the issue on the train as he prevented it from stopping (by knifing the console). He destroyed the water device as opposed to Ras Al Ghul stopping the train for an alternate source into Gotham tower.

Dammit Patman! It was bad enough when I watched it in HD the other day on cable. I couldn't take my eye off it. Mole! Moley mole mole mole...mole!

Not only will I get seasick from swing my head back and forth to cath every inch of the Imax screen...I will know follow every inch that the MOLE/WART/LESION/CANADA move to. Ugh!

Thanks for the answer but it still doesn't really make sense. He could shoot the rail 50 yards before it was going to hit the target and the train would not have enough time to stop.

Saw it at Lincoln Center NYC with a great crowd. It was an excellent movie for the supersized screen, you really got immersed in it. I think you'll have a good time.
