anyone notice a couple times during some dialog where it looked like 3-4 frames got cut?
one that I remember was one of the scenes with the main gangster boss. the sound was ok but the way his facial expression/position changed looked like some frames were missing |
Seen it opening day and going to a late showing again here in a few hours.
Awesome film. |

huge. your going to need to move your head left and right often no matter where you sit to see the whole scene sometimes

Finally saw it today (just got back now). Loved every minute of it but was slightly disappointed that two scenes I liked from the script didn't make it into the film (Alfred having to warn Bruce that he forgot to take off his black eye makeup and the wall climbing scene with Ducard).
BTW, is it just me or does Lucius Fox know that Bruce is Batman? As far as I recall, in the comics, even though Fox always knew Bruce was not the idiot he pretended to be, he never once assumed Bruce was Batman. But, in the movie, not only does Fox show up to Bruce's home to give him the anitvirus (I'm sure Alfred got Bruce out of the costume before Fox ever showed up but, c'mon, it's a little too coincidental for a comic book film, let alone this one) and, no matter what color (or shade, in this case) Bruce painted the Tumbler, I'm sure Lucius would have recognized it when it showed up clearly in the news boradcasts. |

I think in the "Hush" story arc, Lucius that Batman was really Bruce Wayne. It was through Lucius that Hush found out who Batman really is.

Well, I've seen it twice and I loved it. I give it a 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Bu, as with all movies, here's what I didn't like. - Katie Holmes - Batmobile - All the one-liners - The terribly shot fight scenes which were just a blur. Find a good spot for the camera and leave the damn thing alone. Enough with this MTV style editing BS - I also found it odd that everytime they showed a full view of the city, you got this beautiful, pristine city. Yet on street level shots, it looked worse than Harlem. Everything else I loved. However, I will say that Michael Keaton's eyes, glare, and voice are better than Bale's for Batman. |

We saw literally his first days as "Batman". So it makes sense that a young Bruce Wayne, isn't going to come out sounding all cool & intimidating like Kevin Conroy & he isn't going to sound as calm & confidant as Keaton. I thought it was perfect, it was him trying to "act" like what he thought like Batman should sound like. Just like he was acting like what he thought Bruce Wayne should be like. |
Quite a few people here have said they didn't like Bale's voice when he was Batman, I think you guys just aren't getting it. Just a picture to support what I'm trying to say. http://img158.echo.cx/img158/1961/bitmap03fs.th.jpg |
So is it worth driving the extra 15 miles and spending the extra $7 to see this at the Imax? From those who have seen it it doesn't sound like they were blown away by it.

It could have been Sci-Fi or something else like that) and the director commented they thought it was a mistake that they killed the Joker off in the 89 version, and they said they would have the Joker in the next movie but they would not kill him off. Sounded as if they might have a continuing Joker story line over a couple movies. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if your idea didn't come into play in a future movie as well, for as good as this current movie is. |

- Katie Holmes I didn't mind Katie Holmes as much as most appear to have, although I do think there are a few actresses who would have been better for the part. - Batmobile When it was first revealed during the films production, I was one of the most vocal critics of the batmobile design, and I still stand by my criticism, although I can understand how some people could like it. And I'm not saying that the abilities they gave the "car" were bad. QUite the contrary, it was pretty cool. It just had zero "bat-style," and I think it could have had some. Heck, if he had time to order 10,000 cowls and ear sets, and he was able to create a nice bat logo for the chest of his body armor, why couldn't he have taken the time to make the car look a bit less hokey? - All the one-liners I actually like all of the one-liners. I think it was very important to have them, to offset the dark tone of the film. - The terribly shot fight scenes which were just a blur. Find a good spot for the camera and leave the damn thing alone. Enough with this MTV style editing BS Couldn't have said it better myself. I am so sick of this I almost can't describe it. - I also found it odd that everytime they showed a full view of the city, you got this beautiful, pristine city. Yet on street level shots, it looked worse than Harlem. I think this was done for a reason, to show the dichotomy that existed in Gotham due to the depression they were suffering. I will say that Michael Keaton's eyes, glare, and voice are better than Bale's for Batman. I kind of agree, but I think Bale did his best to make the character his own. And for the most part, he succeeded. I must admit that I went in expecting to be mostly disappointed by this film, but I was very pleasantly surprised. And while the interpretations are very different, I think I like this new version just as much as the '89 Burton film, which for me is saying a lot. |
I think it would be very cool if the minor (or more recent/less classic) villains could come in to play in a sort of James Bond prologue type sense:
For instance (to maintain the realistic approach) a desperate cage fighter is convicted of the use of a designer steroid from renegade scientists from Singapore. The enhancements were astounding at first, but the side effects were catastrophic. His skin cells started competing like beasts in the Serengeti. Each cell grew bigger and stronger the more of its others it attacked, resembling scales. Meanwhile, he had filed his teeth while in seclusion and sufferance in some hovel, quickly developing paranoia to go with his power lust. Due to the larger area surface of his skin cells, he lost moisture rapidly, and has to maintain a immersion state, humid wouldn't cut it for more than about 20 minutes. Some cool situation explaing this and then about a fifteen minute action sequence and Killer Croc goes off to the now reformed Arkham Asylum. ...Then the Title Sequence and movie. |
I just got back and loved it. Best Batman movie by far. As to the question of bringing children, I wouldn't personally bring anyone too young. Some lady brought her girl to the showing I was at. She looked about 2 or 3, and when the Scarecrow showed up on his horse I think the poor girl got a little traumatized by it. She was sobbing pretty bad.

Oh my God, this is one of my favorite movies ever. Not just one of my favorite comic book flicks (this IS my favorite film of that type), but just one of my favorite films ever, out of any type of films.
I don't want to get into specifics, but I'll mention two moments (which were really just lines) that made me want to stand up and just scream "Holy God this is KICKASS!": Spoiler:
This was not a comic book movie in my mind, not really. Yes it's based on the characters and the universe, but this one was way more than that. This movie is more along the lines of some sort of psychological thriller/horror than anything else, and it blew me away. I give Batman a 10/10 rating, for what it's worth. I can't remember the last time I left a theater feeling this pleased. Christopher Nolan continues to be my favorite most recent new director. This guy is going to go down in film history. I said it after Following and Memento, and I am still saying it. I can't wait to see even more of his projects. |
I just got back from my 2nd viewing this week. I LOVE THIS MOVIE.
