Wow! Is that an artist rendering of an actor as the Joker, or an original drawing? I guess it is original since no one has listed the actor who inspired it.

That said, the kiss had all the passion of a firm handshake or a friendly hug....both Holmes and Bale looked very uncomfortable when they kissed. |
i think the sequel will do better at the box office then batman begins. people who are hesitant to go see batman again will see the movie on dvd or cable and like it. like x2 did better box office then x-men and bourne supremacy made more money then bourne identity. people who did not see the original in movie theater showed up for the sequel because the original was very good.
Katie Holmes would be welcomed back imho. No she is not fantastic in this movie but she is not bad. the kiss is hesitant because she has decided she does not a relationship with him while he is batman. the scene where she slaps him is very good and about his actions scene is very good after he took the dip in the pool. I'd rather have katie holmes back then another bimbo. |
That is a really, really, REALLY cool joker !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
It needs to be sent to the producers. The movie also rocked. It wasnt perfect, nothing is, but it was generally done the way I wanted it to be done. I guess they didnt do it too hardcore because of the PG13 rating. Batmans face thru the drug eyes of Crane ...NICE!! I saw it on IMAX, will see it again (at least once more) |
No Bats in Katie's Future
by Edie Sellers, San Francisco Examiner Only days after "Batman Begins" starlet Katie Holmes announced her engagement to Tom Cruise, she's reportedly been dropped by Warner Brothers from future "Batman" sequels. Why? Because the studio reportedly believes that all the attention given to her love life has stolen buzz away from the film. While the film has received overwhelmingly positive reviews since its release last week, there's been almost unilateral agreement that its future rides with stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, Michael Caine as butler Alfred and Morgan Freeman as buiness partner Lucius Fox - with little Katie's performance as Assistant District Attorney Rachel Dawes seen as the film's weakest link. According to IMDb.com, a source told Page Six, "Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. She won't be in the sequel. The next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress. Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the Joker rather than Katie and Tom." |

Can't believe a local paper actually published something that was gotten from imdb. |
I wonder how Katie feels about being replaced by "stronger actress"?
Also, if War of the Worlds fails to deliver, how much you wanna wager the studio will place the blame on Tom Cruise's behavior? |

Hasn't SS himself already hinted at tip-toed around, blaming Cruise and his behavior?

She wasn't bad but it felt like I was watching the WB network at some of the times she was on screen. Maybe they will get her to cameo in the next film in a scene with Joker if you get my drift. |
I just got back from Batman Begins and thought I would toss out my two cents.
I can't express how much I loved this film. It's everything a comic book film should be. Humor is fine, as are toss-off one liners very occasionally, but the material of a superhero picture *has* to be treated seriously and, within the universe of the film, realistically to give it the weight it needs to be successful. That's why Batman Begins works IMO. It's not at all humorless, as some of the reviews would have us believe, but it doesn't see itself as a joke or camp or a two hour merchandise tie-in, which was why the last two Batman films (the last one in particular...God, what a turd!) were such a dismal failure. This is the superhero mythology raised to the level of art, much like Superman I and II, Spiderman II and X-Men II. It's relentless and *very* gritty. The positives: Not sure where to start here. The acting, writing and direction were all so tremendously good. I really hope the studios are taking note of the formula for success of all these comic book films. Not necessarily hot but top flight actors coupled with a clever screenplay, with a visionary director sheparding the process. The cast was simply ludicrous...the best I can remember in any summer film of recent memory. Christian Bale, one of my favorite actors since Empire of the Sun, surrounded by the likes of Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neason and Cillian Murphy? What's not to love? Among all the supporting performances, my favorite was actually Neeson's. I haven't noticed him getting a ton of mention but he exuded such tremendous authority and power in the role. I hope he and Cillian both come back for the next film, as the door would seem to have been left open for both, depending on the direction the next script takes. And for God's sakes, someone lock up Mr. Nolan for at least two more Batman films. Negatives: My biggest problem with Katie Holmes isn't really her performance as much as mixed in with the rest of the cast, her presence is a little jarring. She's simply professionally outclassed in this film, which isn't completely her fault. It reminds me a little of Sofia Coppola in Godfather III, more in presence than in performance as Holmes did an at least adequate job. Also, the action sequences were so rapidly edited. On the big screen it was hard to tell what was going on, though the fight sequences seemed exceedingly brutal. Oddly enough, I think the film will play better on DVD on a nice big TV. |
Well, here it goes... I just saw this film and
WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT! I read this thread and I thought "Christ, this must be the best comic book movie ever made" after I finished watching this "masterpiece"...I just couldn't believe HOW BAD THIS MOVIE IS. Hello? Are you guys freaking stupid? How can you love this movie? This is garbage. Hell, BATMAN AND ROBIN was way better than this crap. Yes, I prefer Bat's nipples on his costume rather then watching the "death of the scarecrow" (I couldnt stop laughing) Tim Burton's Batman OWNS Batman Begins. Action was very poor and mainly it was practically ABSENT from the movie. Fighting scenes were just a joke. The whole storyline... BIG LET DOWN! Oh man, Hollywood must be crazy. How can people see this horrible stuff and say "That's some good shit" People who make these movies, they are rich and they don't give a fuck about making a good film anymore. I'm sorry for being rude but I'm just speechless. If you want to make a great film do something like "SIN CITY" SIN CITY is the best movie of 2005. |
Hmmm...........
|
I actually thought Sin City was one of the worst movies I have seen this year. I was bored about half way through and couldn't have cared less about the characters.
Batman Begins was pretty good, but, as others have said, needed some major help in the action scenes. I enjoyed the first half a lot more than the second. |

How can you really blame the media for focusing on Cruise's antics when he's acting like a complete and total nutjob? |

Get in your car. Drive to a nearest bridge. Get out of your car. Jump off the bridge. Oh and just in case there is a chance you might live, find a bridge over a train track. |

Jackskeleton: Not to thread crap but if you're easly offended by people's opinions then you have serious issues. I said what I thought about the movie but I also was disturbed how 99 % of this board defend this movie. It didn't deserve it. No wonder it makes no money.
Mopower::mad2: Finally, speaking of SIN CITY. You must read books and then see it. I couldn't believe how accurate movie was translated from books. Art direction, dialog, acting was freaking incredible. As for Batman...hmmm...forget it, I won't even start. |
SWEAR TO ME~!!!!!!!

This dude has serious presentation and communication issues, but to some degree, he has a point. Folks have, in my opinion, gone wayyyyy too far in falling all over themselves about this film. Much of the movie is brilliant, but it has some glaring flaws as well...big ones. I loved it, but it barely cracks the top 5 of the superhero genre in my opinion.
