I guess it is kinda hard to find someone with the EXACT same tastes as you. But we have been very close until this one.

Christopher Lambert? Where does he come in?
But then I gave him the rest of my breakfast burrito and he was happier than a pig in shit.
And speaking of pigs in shit, one day I want to start a "Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot!" Fan Club. I know there are fans out there!
Somewhere. Someday.
I agree with this sentiment.

you would be hard-pressed to find two people who agreed on every single movie. I'm happy to find someone whose tastes are remotely similar to mine.

Its ridiculous that so many people rant and rave about a very crappy movie.

as amusing as the contrived banter was, I just couldn't accept the stupid stupid idea that a lesbian would go straight for Ben Affleck. The film either showed a complete non-understanding of sexual orientation or else it was trying to suggest that their love was powerful enough to overcome the whole 'gay' thing... which it failed to do. Alot of the conversations were really awful. I hated Jay and Bob Strike Back too... totally unfunny (to me).

You are NOT a Peter Jackson fan if you didn't like Braindead(its REAL title, not the crappy American 'Dead Alive' rebrandishing). I bet you just say that based on the Lord Of The Rings, well I've personally gotta say that I have all his movies (Bad Taste, Meet The Feebles, Braindead, Heavenly Creatures, The Frighteners, Forgotten Silver and all 3 LOTR plus extended editions) and that the stuff he made before LOTR gets more rotation in my DVD player.
Getting back to the topic, overrated definitely: Harold & Maude, Mallrats, Rushmore, Night Of The Demons

which movie is this again? I forgot. Rushmore? Donnie Darko? I think it was one of those, right? I didn't like Darko at all and don't understand the praise really unless it hit people on some spiritual or religious level that escapes me and my athiest going-to-hell self.

Wow this thread is killing me. You guys are picking overrated films, and it reads like my top 10 list. I love Rushmore, Donnie Darko , Ginger Snaps, Full Metal Jacket, Holy Grail, and Evil Dead 2.
I do agree NOTLD is overrated. Dawn of the Dead is way better.

Easy Rider is the most overrated movie ever.
Donnie Darko is a kind of "faux intellectual" hodgepodge - not a terrible movie, but certainly not a successful movie either - it just fools people into thinking it's "deep" by being weird.
Dead Alive, I must defend, however. Hilariously creative. Just make sure you don't accidentally watch "The rated version" - this version is out there in many incarnations, and it destroys the movie - by cutting out lots of the best bits in the film. It's the first version I saw, and I didn't think much of the film until I saw the actual, uncut version.
If it says "Rated Version" or "Rated R" anywhere on the tape/disc - then avoid it like the plague - only watch it uncut.

The Landmark Theaters in my area are now running midnight shows. And on it's current list is, and I quote, "Teens track treasure in the cult favorite 'The Goonies' " Certainly never would have considered that a cult movie. Nor did I ever expect to see it pop up at a midnight show. Kind of cool actually. Not to derail the thread, but are they still planning a sequel?
